This is one of the most visited sites in Japan, with heavy foot traffic throughout the year. To make the most of your visit, it’s highly recommended to arrive early in the morning to avoid long lines and large crowds.
You’ll also find plenty of freely roaming deer around Tōdai-ji. Tourists can purchase shika senbei (deer crackers) to feed them. Note that the price is fixed no matter where you buy — no bargaining is accepted.
