This was my favourite meal I've had in Japan to date. Such a cute little homely restaurant, really close to todaiji temple, right between the Budda hall and the monks quarters. Easy to find, absolutely delicious food and wonderful service.

The lovely woman serving me even remembered me the next day when I took a friend there to try it 🥰

I had the kitsune Udon set that comes with mushroom soup plus the warabimochi with matcha set and everything was beyond incredible!

The definition of umami in the meals I had. I will be back next time I'm in Nara. I may even just do a day trip to Nara specifically...

visited this restaurant after spending our morning at Nara Park and Todaiji temple! the restaurant also has a corner displaying ceramic tableware for sale, and it was very cosy. i ordered an iced milk tea and the hot somen set, which comes with a cup of hot genmaicha and a generous serving of warabimochi. everything was really good and satisfying especially after spending hours under the hot august sun! the hot somen set cost 1200 yen, which is really a steal for its location :-) the elderly owner who served us was also really kind and friendly! would definitely recommend...

It’s not a welcoming place. The man and the woman were very rude, aggressive, and impolite. They do not reflect the Japanese hospitality. They surely do not care because it is not a place where you will repeat and come again. Because of the flow of tourist That are coming just once they do not have to make any efforts. Even if you speak Japanese, it will be very rude. Moreover, the price are double for tourist here. A regular Ramen would be around 600 or maybe ¥700. If you continue 100 m ahead and then on your right, there will be a much better restaurant to enjoy...

Shaved ice servings are massive!! The couple working here take a while to serve, so it’s not recommended when you’re in a hurry, but worth the wait. Ramen is quite light, compared to the strong salty broths associated with ramen shops in town. Tastes like home-cooked comfort food, with generous servings of bean sprouts and vegetables. Much needed break from the lack of vegetables when eating out as a tourist! They also have a small shop selling some pottery and souvenirs.
