Narita Tobu Hotel Airport is a solid 3/5 stay, especially for jet-lagged travelers needing a no-fuss layover near Narita Airport. The free shuttle, courteous staff, and on-site convenience store are definite perks. However, dated room details, slight odors, and pay-to-use gym access keep it from being more than functional comfort.

Full Review:

Narita Tobu Hotel Airport (成田東武ホテルエアポート) is exactly the kind of hotel you book when your priorities are speed, efficiency, and proximity—not plush pillows or top-tier amenities. In that regard, it delivers well enough. After a long haul flight or a taxing travel itinerary, being shuttled just minutes from Narita Airport to a warm, check-in-ready bed is something many weary travelers will count as a small mercy.

The location is its most defining strength—no long commutes, no expensive taxis, just a straightforward shuttle ride that runs regularly and reliably. And once you're there, you're greeted by excellent staff—friendly, professional, and quick to assist. From front desk check-in to questions about nearby food options, they handled everything with grace and poise.

The room itself, however, is a mixed bag. While functional, the experience leans toward utilitarian rather than indulgent. The bed linens were a bit coarse, and I detected a faint but noticeable cigarette odor emanating from the bathroom, despite staying in a non-smoking room. Soundproofing was also less than ideal; hallway noise and distant murmurs filtered through more than I would have liked for a hotel catering to exhausted travelers.

On the plus side, Wi-Fi connectivity was quick, and while speeds fluctuated, it handled basic streaming and web browsing without major issues. Downstairs, you’ll find a convenience store and what appears to be a cosmetics shop, which can be a lifesaver for late-night snacks, forgotten toiletries, or a quick bento dinner. That said, do note that microwaves aren’t available in-room, so any cold meals you buy will stay cold unless you eat them on the spot or bring them to the designated communal areas.

One small disappointment was that the fitness center isn’t included in the room rate. Hotel guests receive a discount, but at the end of a long day, having to pay extra to use a treadmill or lift weights feels like a missed opportunity in terms of guest satisfaction.

All in all, Narita Tobu Hotel Airport is a practical and functional hotel, ideal for travelers with early flights or short layovers. It’s not trying to dazzle or pamper, but it does provide a clean bed, a helpful staff, and a very convenient location. If your expectations are managed and your needs are simple, you’ll find it more than...

Would’ve given this place a higher review but forever tarnished by the abysmal food.

Picture this, right.

It’s 19:29. You’ve spent the whole day wandering around Chiba, doing god-knows-what. You’re tired, sweaty, grimy, absolutely disgusting. You catch the Narita Express back to the airport, hop on the gracious shuttle bus lent to hotel guests by the lovely Tobu Hotel.

You place your bags down, take your newly purchased Onitsuka Tiger shoes off, and you’re ready to be absorbed by the bed.

But then… a rumble. A familiar noise…

Despite demolishing some yakitori earlier, you’re still hungry.

Luckily, there’s a restaurant just downstairs. Located right outside one of the elevators where you cannot miss, alongside many ads showing the delicacies offered.

You check the menu, the prices are quite steep, but it’s a given, you’re next to the airport, free shuttle, yada yada.

You’re tired, you feel as if you can eat a cinder block, so it didn’t really matter at the moment.

But like the smart little tourist you are, you start weighing your options.

Should I wait for the next shuttle back to the airport? Maybe even a Taxi to Narita city for a real meal? Nah.

You say to yourself, “It can’t be that bad.”

You can probably see where this is going now.

First off, you wait in line to be seated like this place had 4 Michelin stars. Then, after finally sitting down, you wait again for food that clearly spent its time in a microwave and not an oven.

I, in all my gaijin glory, ordered a margherita pizza, something simple, a pallet cleanser after all the delicious food during my trip. My companion went with the Unagi, hoping for at least some semblance of quality, adjacent with some of the other Eel we had tried.

Both dishes were dreadful. Slimy, sad, reheated garbage. The kind of meal that makes you question every decision that led you to that table. I had trouble biting down on the pizza so I had resulted to using my cutlery, which was to no avail. It’s pretty, that’s it. And for almost $60 USD, yeah man, kick rocks, absolutely criminal for what you get. If I’m paying that much, the food better not feel like it was regurgitated from a gigantic orifice for which I cannot name.

After that sad excuse for a meal, I found it hard to enjoy the rest of the stay. It left a sour taste in my mouth. Both literally and figuratively.

Save your money. Save your soul. Save your LIFE. Walk the extra half mile or something and get some onigiri at the conbini.

The hotel’s fine, but that restaurant, christ...

FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE

This hotel, most importantly, has FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE to and from :

a) Narita International Airport - just FYI it is only between 10 to 20 minutes between the hotel to the various international terminals.

Hotel does a very smart thing and in the morning rush they have 2 coaches moving. One exclusively to Terminal 1 and a second coach to Terminal 2. Porters are on stand by to help with loading the luggage onto the coach.

b) Narita Station(train) c) Narita Town where there is a large AEON Shopping Mall

I have attached the latest time schedule for your reference.

CHECK-IN

Does not matter what time you arrive, the check in process only starts from 2pm. So there is no point asking to fill out the paperwork in advance if you arrive early. Just leave your bags with Concierge and then pick them back up after you have checked in.

Note that our check in of 3 rooms was super fast when we did go to do it at 2pm.

ROOMS

The rooms are large, clean & bright! In fact, the hotel is very large too! Beds are a little hard but still very good room. The amenities are good & include a shaver, hair brush, tooth brushes, disposable hotel slippers.

FREE WIFI

Very good.

FOOD

If you took the free shuttle to Narita Station there are just so many Izakaya(Japanese style pubs) and other eateries for you to select from within 10 meters of where the shuttle bus drops you off.

SHOPS AT HOTEL

There are 2 shops that we visited personally at the hotel just off the main lobby area. One is a mini version of the famous chain that sells (duty free if you spend minimum YEN5000 in one receipt) pharmaceuticals and cosmetics and another is a souvenir shop that also sells food like a convenience store. Both are quite well appointed for just a hotel shop.

STAFF SERVICE

Whilst we were physically there, the staff service was good and no complaints.

All in all a very good and convenient stay for a last night in Tokyo.

PS Am only giving 4 stars because of the fact that communicating with the hotel 3 weeks before arrival when we had to change one room from one person staying to two persons staying was difficult. Made us anxious but when we checked in, we just paid the difference and...
