I stopped by when I was feeling hungry. I’ve been here many times, and later learned that this is actually a long-established local sushi restaurant in Narita.
Yebisu Beer ¥907 Negitoro Roll (3 pieces) ¥3,872 Special Nigiri Sushi (Superior) ¥3,630 Tamago (2 pieces) ¥484 Simmered Taro and Octopus with Cherry Blossoms ¥1,210
The night before departing from Narita, this is always my go-to spot. The food is always delicious, though the prices are on the higher side.
The atmosphere, however, feels a little challenging for international visitors. Perhaps it was just my timing, but I noticed the staff using only very basic English when assisting foreign guests.
Since this restaurant is located inside Hotel Nikko Narita, which serves many international travelers, I hope the service here can reflect the same global hospitality that the hotel itself is striving for.
I always order the Special Nigiri Sushi, but as I’m not fond of shellfish, I ask to have those items left out. The hall staff kindly confirms my request with the sushi chef, but from the table, I can clearly see the interaction. Some chefs accept it with a warm smile, which I truly appreciate, while others show visible displeasure, and even from a distance, their expression is obvious.
I understand this is a special request, so I hesitate to mention it, but if my request causes such a reaction, perhaps it would be better not to say anything and simply leave the shellfish uneaten. It leaves me with mixed feelings.
For many guests, this may be their very first meal after arriving in Japan, or their last dinner before flying home. I sincerely hope they can experience sushi here with the pride of representing authentic Japanese culture and hospitality.
When it comes to Google Review replies, I think it would leave a much better impression if responses first addressed the guest’s comments about the food, service, or atmosphere, and then added a warm closing line such as, “We hope you stay healthy and well during these hot days.” Even a small extra effort like this can make the restaurant’s sincerity truly shine through.

But the server was giving us a lot of pressure about ordering quickly. At 9:30pm, we asked if we can order something takeaway for our family who was arriving later at the hotel and was sternly rejected. So service was not great.
On top of that, the sushi did not taste fresh, which was very disappointing after reading the prior positive reviews. I ordered the special set “jyou” which included a piece of uni sushi. Wow, I have never had such horrible tasting uni in Japan. Outside of Japan I can understand but right at Narita airport (where you would expect them to receive fresh ingredients) or still within Japanese borders, I have never tasted such clearly unfresh uni. The other fish in the set were not particularly fresh either…was just so surprised by the poor quality. Maybe this was because we came in later in the day? Anyway, still...
