Daifukuji — Attraction in Osaka

I quiet and peaceful cemetery just along the main road. There's no donation box as a typical temple would have, so I put coins on the stand in front of the small Buddha shrine. The priest who resides here was very polite and even offered me an umbrella because there was light rain on the day that I visited. It's a small area that can easily ba walked through within 5 to 10 minutes. The goshuin cho recieved (300 yen) looks very interesting. 安土桃山時代と江戸時代に渡っている年号である、慶長年間に（1596～1615）の創建されたと推測される。正確な開山、開創時期などの詳細は不明。現在の銀山寺（天王寺区生玉寺町6-26）がかつて大福寺を称していたが、太閤秀吉の命により改称・移転したあと、現在地にあった寺院を大福寺と称するようになったと伝わっている。秀吉の権力をすれば可能なことだが、どのような経緯があるのかは不明である。 昭和２０年の大阪大空襲で山門を除く堂宇を焼失した。本堂は現在、再建の途中である。 明治２年（1869）、境内地に大阪大学医学部の前身、大阪浪華仮病院が創建された縁により、薬事関係の檀家が多く、「医薬の寺」の歴史を持つ。境内や門には、大阪浪華仮病院の碑の類が多く存在している。山門は閉まっていることが多いが、向かって右側の...
