Very nice hostel.
Location is about 20 mins walk to the Dotonbori/Nippombashi area. You don't have to worry about no transport back after 12am. So the location is decent if you like the Namba area. 7-Eleven is just 1 street away. If you are itchy for late night supper, you can walk to Dotonbori area for Matsuya or Ichiran Ramen which are open 24 hours.
Stayed here for 3 nights. During my stays, it seems that the counter is manned in both day and night. You can store your luggage if you arrive early. They reply promptly through booking.com which is where I booked it. There is a school beside. You might get some noise in the morning but it is only for a while which didn't bother my sleep.
Rooms wise, all the dorms are on level 2. The room and the bed are quite spacious. You can put your luggage onto the bed and there will still be enough space to sleep. You can request for extra pillow at no additional from the counter. Towels rental is 100 yen.
There are toilets and sinks at both level 1 and 2. Showers are in level 1. The overall cleanliness is very good and well maintained. You can see the staffs doing the cleaning diligently. Slippers are given for inside the building but you won't feel yucky even if you walk with just socks.
The common area is quite cosy. There's free breakfast which is pretty much bread for toast. I noticed the water kettles were always empty. In my opinion, there could be a big container to store boiled drinking water so the guests can refill or drink water easily to hydrate themselves. There is a vending machine inside the building though which is a paid alternatives to get drinking water.
Washing machine cost 200 yen. I think that includes the dryer.
Staffs are friendly. Calvin was very warm during my stay.
Overall I like this hostel very much. Good location, good cleanliness, spacious bed and friendly staffs. I hope the next time I come to Osaka I am able to book...
Read moreNo.01 in my opinion. I have been stay in Japan for 15 Day and Stay in 8 different Hostel during my trip.To experience the stay and hope to built one in my country.
My visit Range from Tokyo_ Nui/Wise/Kaisu Kyoto_Qben/Millennial Osaka_Mituway/Pax/Lode&kin.
Let me explain why.
Welcomeing_Staff are Friendly Not that stupid funny talkative friendly but "professional one" The explaination is clear.and always willing to help.
Feel relaxed_ Most of the hostel Don't give you this much space of common areas. Both for working and relaxing Well design Interior let the natural light in around the building .Bed is big enough with small locker and dimmer light. And not to crowded 6 pp in 1 room.with window= better air ventilation.
Comfortable_ Kitchen with pots and pan oven + free Bancha tea/Laundry is well equip 200 yen+ free detergents.with tumblr dryers.100 yen /10min Plenty of shower room / toilet / men toilet always clean and plenty i never have to wait.just amazing!
Bunk mate _ Normally some other guests can ruin your stay. No respect / Drunk / Dirty. But not in this hostel! guest here combination of Japanese office worker (2) Korean girl/boy solo travelers (4) European (2) American girl(3) Most of them are aware of social manner!
Privacy_ Bed is sounds proof! and sturdy. Its not that quitet but you wont here some one fart /burp or the bed is shaking while they move.and the curtain is block most of of light .give you enough privacy. and darkness for sleeping.
Location_ its abit far from Train station..but its quite.its peacefully. its help you relax and really experience your stay.after a long day of walking.
summary_Mistuwaya Hostel_ Its a place to stay if you are in Osaka. Its peaceful and relaxing.will definitely back here in future.đ„°
Really inspired my to build one...
Read moreThis hostel is great if you're traveling alone! Friendly staff and the place is kept clean and well organized. While I did feel that the hostel is smaller than what I saw in the photos... this is Japan, so don't expect a palace. The rooms are also kept nice and while I did get a good nights sleep each night there is a elementary school across the road that does these "morning exercises". If you have your window open and are a light sleeper, you will be woken up by this so bring headphones and or ear plugs as a precaution.
The location of the hostel is really great. You only need to walk about 15-20 minutes to get into the core of Osaka. I'd personally only use the public transit for day trips to a far area of the city and or on your arrival/exit date. If you have a JR pass you can walk to the hostel from the station, but it is a bit of a trek and the metro will only cost you about $1.50 to go one stop to where the hostel is.
If you're looking for a great local bar I strongly recommend "Bar Blackon ăăŒ ăă©ăłăł é»çŽș" which is about a short walk away. The guy running that place doesn't speak much English, but he did give us a great time! Its only big enough for five people, so choose who you take with you.
Overall I had a great time at this hostel, with one slight issue... It is a bit hard to meet people without the "traditional" hostel happy hour. The hostel could benefit from having just a few social events such as simple walking tours around the area and or just a typical hangout kind of event for anyone who wants meet some folks and or is traveling alone. That being said, I know these things take extra effort on the hostels part so its not so much a failing as it is a...
