Nice little oasis with a good drop in temperature as you descend the stairs. Even on a not so cloudy day there are gentle breezes keeping you cool and relaxed. There are also some drinking fountains scattered about. Probably an awesome place if you're a planespotter as their take-offs are in clear view. No real seating places along this esplanade like there are on the other side of the water. So you'll have to make do with stairs or the brick wall lining the paths. Smokers and pigeons are around during lunch hours, so be wary of their droppings if...

江戸時代元禄末（1700ころ）、すでに存在していた記録が残る。名の由来も人名から来たとする説、地名にちなむ説といろいろで不詳である。左岸の都島側は農村であったが、京街道にも近く、また右岸は天満組で大坂城代配下の与力などの役宅が並んでいた。さらに桜の名所があることから大へん賑わったという。上流の「平田の渡し」（淀川・江口コース参照）と共に有名であった。 昭和11年6月架橋され、それによって渡しの使命は終ったが、橋...
