Strengths: • Effective at helping students learn N5, N4, and N3. • Sufficient for facilitating fundamental Japanese speaking skill, even if it may sound unusual, particularly in the Kansai region where you may spend a significant amount of time after graduation.

Weaknesses: • The guidance for achieving N2 proficiency appears insufficient. Mock tests provided for N2 seem easier than the actual exam and use outdated references. Passing the JLPT N2 and N1 exams may not ensure speaking fluency based solely on the teaching methods employed by the institution.

• While progressing to the N3 level, I engaged in various activities such as volunteering (not related with the school). From these experiences, I discovered that the use of the formal desu-masu form can sometimes feel less friendly in everyday interactions. The school’s emphasis on desu-masu as a polite form of speech lacked in-depth explanations regarding cultural nuances and the appropriate use of casual language. The importance of maintaining formal language, particularly in professional settings, was not adequately addressed.

• The curriculum on Japanese workplace culture could benefit from a more comprehensive approach. While basic manners such as table etiquette are covered, critical aspects like punctuality and note-taking practices, which are essential for daily professional interactions, are not sufficiently emphasized.

• The use of the Osaka dialect (Osaka-ben) in workplace settings was overlooked by the school, despite its prevalence in the region.

• Some instructors pointed out that student Japanese sounded unusual due to the mixing of formal and informal language. Rather than providing constructive guidance on rectifying these mistakes, feedback was limited to comments.

• The focus of the Business Japanese Test (BJT) curriculum seems skewed towards sales-related tasks and basic administrative functions, with insufficient coverage of practical aspects such as drafting proposals, name of documents, and managing human resources documents.

• The institution could provide more comprehensive guidance on navigating the intricacies of Japanese job culture. Teaching methods seemed inadequate in preparing students, as evidenced by feedback from Japanese colleagues regarding the unnaturalness of the Japanese. Additionally, the complexity of certain kanji and vocabulary taught may not align with practical workplace usage.

Overall, while the Japanese language instruction provided by the institution is satisfactory, comparable standards may be available at alternative schools. While the curriculum touches upon superficial aspects of Japanese culture, deeper insights are lacking. Despite the inclusion of “International” and “Culture” in its name, these values are not consistently evident in classroom instruction or student services.

Significant concerns were noted regarding the prioritization of the institution’s objectives over student needs especially within the student service department. However, it’s important to acknowledge that individual experiences may vary.

Conclusion : à qui déconseiller OBKG ?

I highly recommend this Japanese language school. The school provides excellent career support, helping students plan their future paths after learning Japanese. They offer personalized counseling for students who are unsure about their career or study options, which is very helpful. Additionally, the teachers are dedicated and ensure that students reach their goals, including preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 level. The curriculum is thorough, and students receive proper guidance to succeed at the highest level of proficiency. Overall, I am very satisfied with the support and education I received here. It’s a great place for anyone serious about learning Japanese and planning their...
