I was happy and pleased with my stay at APA Hotel Shinagawa Sengakuji from 11-15oct. Quiet, away from the bustle areas and conveniently located. About 25 mins express train ride from HND airport(omg 🤔only ¥327, if you have a suica card in your iPhone app!), once reached Sengakuji Station, exit at A2 and on the left side, walk just 2mins to APA hotel! Nearest Yamanote train circle line only 5 mins walk from hotel @Takanawa Gateway. The station is also 1 stop away from Shinagawa. If you wanna go Ginza or Asakusa, take the same express train line from Sengakuji Station! Check-in time is 3pm, if you arrive early.. can leave you luggage with them and come back later to check-in.. checkout time is 10am and if you wanna extend your checkout, every hour additional will be charge ¥2000 (starting in nov)! Likewise for checkout, you can leave your luggage with them and come back later when you decide to leave Tokyo for your later flight! On the right side of the hotel there is also some eateries and convenient store. The room is small, clean and cozy! I requested for a high floor and the view was beautiful! There are water boiler, fridge, coffe/tea sachets and a huge tv in the room. If you a huge-in-size person or travelling as a couple with many luggage might not be ideal. Solo traveller will definitely like the clean, small and cozy room! Hope the information helps.. Thank you APA hotel! I thoroughly enjoy my stay! Will come back again! ALwaYs LOve it @Japan🇯🇵

Edit: we stayed in the superior double room, and it fit two large couples/ adults just fine. Great hotel. Love the area so close to 3 different stations! Sengakuji (around the corner), Tanakawa Gateway, and Mita Station a bit further down. 7/11 is super convenient, and many local eateries are nearby. The room and bathroom were a bit too small, but it works! I love how they provide fresh towels every day and always clean the room every 3 room regardless of whether you ask or not. Do not leave anything in the fridge/freezer because the whole room turns off when you remove the hotel key from the slot. My ice cream melted :( The spa/onsen was great and private. But don't believe the TV. I went when it showed the one person symbol, but there were a handful of others in there. The laundry is on the 21st floor, and I believe the detergent is automatic. The view is always great!! There are only 2 sets of machines so please be wary of others! However, there is one set in the ladies' onsen/spa to use. Check-in and check out were flawless! If you paid beforehand, they tell you to fill out the screen and scan your passport on the kiosk. You do this for every person staying in the room. For the express check out, you just put your room key in the slot. 10 mins before the check out, on the tv screen, you'll be given the option to extend your time there 1000 yen per hour up to 3 max on the screen.

Simple no frill Japanese hotel! This hotel is convenient and simple. It is great for solo travelers or couples. The room I was in (single occupancy) was extremely tiny but that is expected for Tokyo. It was a perfect size for me as someone who is short and petite, but I would expect it to be very uncomfortable for someone of bigger stature. The location is great! It is right next to Sengakuji station that has direct access to both airports, ginza, asakusa, the sky tree and more. A easy 15 minute walk will take you to the major Shinagawa station which has access to all trains. There is not much around the hotel though and it is a more localized area. There is a spa/onsen on the top floor which I did not check our but seems to be a selling point. Breakfest was on the steep side at around 1900 yen. Most importantly, the staff was sweet and accommodating. They only spoke basic English and I found google translate was extremely helpful. I had wanted to check out one night early and the staff took care of everything to refund me one night on short notice. I would choose this specific APA hotel again!

I am currently staying here now. Checked in June 29, 2024, and checking out June 30, 2024. This is as recent as it gets! What you read is true! Non-smoking rooms smell like cigarettes!! They will not do a darn thing about it. At least provide air freshener! Rooms are small but expected because it's Japan. Space is limited. Customer service is decent, but if you get the wrong person, it is annoying. Overall, they are generally nice. You definitely should have low expectations and always expect the worse! Doesn't matter the cost because high nightly cost is due to high demand. People need this place more than they don't so book in advance next time. Avoid bad experiences by reading recent reviews. I fell for it too, but I was also desperate haha. Oh well. Lesson learned! Not the worse thing ever, but it sure is ugh!

Rooms are super small, no space after opening up the luggage, no space to put your bags of clothes and only have 6 hanger by the wall. Room cleaning only on the 4th day of stay (I booked 3 nights and not eligible for room cleaning). They will put fresh towel, etc hanging on the hook outside your room. Tv is huge and comes with free VOD. Only provide paper cup, and replenish according to the number of pax in the room daily. The best thing about this hotel is location, the view of Japan tower, and the onsen! Good for a short stay, maybe 1 or 2 night, but not 3 nights for the fact that they don’t clean the room. I will not recommend for long stay.

This is the APA hotel right in front of Sengakuji station A2 exit. The location is extremely good especially since you can come here directly from Haneda Airport. The service is not too bad either; I was a bit worried because they didn’t tell me to have a nice time on the first day but the lady who helped me with my package was very nice. But the rooms are minute even for an APA hotel; it reminded me of the APA in front of Kyoto Station. All in all I’d say four stars sounds fair enough. I recommend it to any lone traveler or someone on a budget. Not a place to visit with your kids though, business hotels never are.
