I stayed here for eight days - and actually I am still here for another 3 days while writing this review. I spent 3 days on business and the rest is a holiday with my wife. The hotel location is good as it is next to the Shinagawa train station and it is convenient access if you are going to be doing a lot of journeys on a train/subways - but for the most part it is taxis for local travel for business - hence the location should be considered with this in mind. The rooms are dated but clean and the servicing of the rooms is fine. There is turndown service (which is quite nice), but we have only taken advantage of it once given that we tend to relax and rest after a day in the town, before a relatively late meal. Hence the hours of the turndown have just not been a match.

This hotel is a part of a triad of hotels with shared restaurants and services. One would think this would be great (and it probably is) but today an issue arose which left a very bad taste in my mouth for this hotel. There are signs all over the lobby and various parts of the hotel about going pool hopping. There are two pools, both at the Shin Takanawa, which is one of the adjoining hotels. Today we decided to go and spend an hour or so at the pool, only to get there and be told that there was 6,000 Yen charge (about $45). I was shocked (not by the $45 but by the principal). Never in my life have I ever stayed at a hotel and been told of a charge to use the pool. When I questioned it, I was told that our room plan did not include the pool. This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard - how does being a guest (and a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite at that), staying for eight days not get you an hour at the pool. Just being a guest should allow you a privilege at the pool. This was certainly a first for me after having traveled around the world (though first time in Japan) for the last 45 years. When we were walking to the pool, we noticed it was relatively empty. Now we know why. BTW, I had asked one of the front desk ladies before we went to the pool if we needed anything particular to use the pool at the sister hotel - I was told I simply needed my room key. I made my opinion known to the manager and told him, this experience (due to a silly policy and subsequent embarrassment) had now made this hotel a two star hotel in my book. He was apologetic and asked if he could make it right. Albeit I appreciated his gesture/offer and I was thankful, it is not my style to complain only to have something else offered to appease me. If something is wrong, it is just wrong.

Dining: The breakfast buffet is well done. We did in room dining one evening and it was a terrible experience. The fried chicken tenders (dark meat) were cold as were the fries. The vegetable plate was a very sorry excuse for vegetables, and they were well overcooked. The fruit plate was meager at best. Albeit the dining service was great, the food itself was just not to par. We have not eaten at any of the other restaurants in this hotel.

There is a sauna and a whirlpool and a very basic relaxation room available to guests. There is a very nice Japanese garden, which is delightful to walk at night as it is nicely lit and has a charming atmosphere.

The hotel is very nice overall, but the experience today, with the pool, will be hard to overcome, particularly with three more days to go. It has left a visceral stain and, unfortunately, will result in me not returning to this hotel when I return to Tokyo for upcoming...

We booked this hotel based on the reputation of Marriot Autograph Hotels and how it looked on Expedia and the Bonvoy App.

Upon arriving to the hotel, I soon realized that this was an acquisition on a low-quality local brand hotel but overall, the room was nice, clean and had a good view.

Everything about the Hotel was fine except for the following:

On Sunday 16th in the morning before we left the Hotel we asked the reception desk staff to book the Halloween Afternoon Tea, it was full which we understand but disappointing. Instead, I decided to book us massages for 10:15pm on our last night, the lady went back and forth confirmed the massages. What she didn't explain though was that the spa closes at 10pm and these would be in room massages.

Tuesday (18th) night at 10:15pm we went to the spa only to find the staff telling us it was closed. We went to reception and finally figured out that we had in room massages booked for 10:50pm, frustrating because if she wrote down the details as a confirmation, we would have realized the mistake.

At 10:50pm two ladies came to our room for massages, no fold up table or anything. Instead, we were to receive massages on our bed. It was probably the most disappointing massage we have ever had; I understand a different technique, but this was just not a fun experience. It was only $60 each but still, we just laughed at how bad it was.

On Monday night we went to dinner at the Ritz Carlton and had a lovely meal. On our return to the Hotel we thought we would have a drink or two at the hotel bar. We sat down and we're presented with a menu that included each sheet in a plastic wallet. Honestly, this menu looked like it was from 1992 at a low-quality hotel in Spain! It was not Marriot Autograph quality!

We ordered a G&T and Champagne, the drinks were great, Tanqueray chilled and good champagne. We ordered another round before heading up to bed and motioned that I would like the bill. The waiter saw we were taking the drinks to our room and said we could not. He said we would need to go cups! I laughed! As he looked around for the to go cups I asked the Manager what star rating the Hotel was and he confirmed it was a 4 star. I laughed and asked him if he thought it was acceptable to be asked to drink champagne out of a paper cup. He said it was the policy. Now I understand this if you are going to the swimming pool, hot tub or if your hotel is a beach property, it is not. We were presented with plastic coffee cups and only when I started to take a photo of it did the Manager change his mind and allow us to take the glasses.

If you are a Marriot Autograph Hotel serving Champagne, don't be so small minded and ask us to use plastic cups to take the expensive drinks to our room.

On Wednesday (19th) morning we booked the taxi when we checked out at 09:30am for the taxi to arrive at 10am.

We walked outside at 10:00am and she said she would now call the taxi; they didn’t seem to understand that’s why we wanted it reserved so that it would be there at 10am to leave.

As soon as I realized she was now going to call the taxi I reserved the taxi on Uber which is what I would have done had I known that the staff didn't understand the concept of pre booking a taxi.

Ultimately, we will not be back. I will also question whether or not I will book the Autograph standard again, I was disappointed in this hotel and its...

Excellent stay at The Prince Sakura Tower Hotel Tokyo. From Checkin, escort to room, room, overnight stay, breakfast and checkout. I walked to the Prince Sakura Tower from the Shinagawa train station around 1600 and man was it hot outside. By the time I made it to the hotel; made a wrong turn after crossing the street, and after walking up the hill to the hotel I was a sweaty mess. Did I say it was hot outside… I chose The Prince Sakura Tower because of its proximity to the Shinagawa train station. I flew into Narita from Naha Okinawa and then traveled to Tokyo on the Narita Express. Which stops at the Shinagawa train station. Bellman (bell women) intercepted me as I was walking up to the hotel doors and help me inside with my bags. Once making it to the front desk bellman/front desk staff brought me a cold/wet wash cloth. Very nice touch after my walk. Really helped me cool down and relax. Check in was smooth and front desk staff was very helpful in explaining hotel amenities and features. I was given room 5420 on the top floor (14 - ?). I was escorted to my room and along the way explained the various hotel features. Once to my room, wow. Very nice room; it was excellent. My escort also went over the room features and all its amenities. Which there were several. Fruit/ welcome plate was in the room to greet me. Room was very large; especially for Tokyo. But really would be a big room anywhere. And I have stayed in a lot of hotels. King size bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had high quality toiletries for 2. Spa bath tub and walk in shower. The room had an awesome view of the Tokyo tower. Executive lounge evening social and breakfast was great as well. Like I started with; was a great overnight stay. Only negative I had was with the shuttle that would take me to the train station. I wasn’t walking back like I did the previous day; lugging my luggage along. I didn’t want to be a sweaty mess just before my 12 hr flight back to the US. I missed previous shuttle by a few min; so I had a 20 min wait. Well when my shuttle finally arrived there was no room on the shuttle for me. So bellman (bell women) said I'd have to wait for the next shuttle.... Well I wasn’t waiting another 20 min for the next shuttle so I asked for a taxi. I think the proper thing to do would have been for the hotel to pick up the taxi fare. That would have been outstanding service. But that was not offered. The outside bellman (bell women) actually didn’t communicate very much with me. The inside bellman (bell women) spoke English and was very helpful. But this doesn’t really change my overall assessment of The Prince Sakura Tower Hotel Tokyo. It was an excellent stay and I would defiantly go out of my way to...
