It is easy to get here, because park and temple is in walking distance from the Harajuku station. Do not rush here, do not try to run around to make tons of photos, just breathe. One big suggestion is to read about this temple before visiting. Simply enjjoy amazing architecture and huge trees around. This temple is the most important of the capital's temples, called the Meiji Jingu or Emperor's Temple, and was erected in 1920. During World War II the temple was completely destroyed in bombing raids, but it was subsequently rebuilt thanks to private contributions in 1958 and contains the tombs of Emperor Mutsuhito Meiji, reigned 1868-1912, and his...

It's a very nice shrine, one with a lot of goings on. It's quite jarring to have the forest and shrine situated right next to Harajuku but it's quite nice - a serene break from the bustling city of Tokyo. Located in the center of the park, this temple formed a square with a East, South and West gate. Before entering the area there is a well to wash your hands and mouth. The temple itself had paper covering the floor which had coins scattered over it. This was close to New Years to may be...
