Such a fun sight and picture-worthy stop along your journey to the Meiji Jingu shrine. These sake barrels have amazing artwork displayed and will catch any passerby's attention. For reference:

These sake barrels are displayed as a decoration and placed at the shrine entrance in honor and offer to a multitude of gods and the souls of the deceased Emperor Meiji and his wife Empress Shoken, enshrined at Meiji Jingu Shrine. Although empty of sake, barrels are full of spiritual significance, a powerful symbol uniting the brewers...

These sake barrels are really cool, but as an oenophile, I liked the French wine casks on the other side a little more.

🔧 Warum ausgerechnet Sake? Sake = heiliges Getränk im Shintō-Glauben

Wird bei Zeremonien, Segnungen & Festen verwendet

Symbolisiert Reinheit, Wohlstand & Verbindung zu den Göttern

📦 Fässer in Stroh? Die runden Fässer heißen komodaru (菰樽)

Traditionell verziert, kunstvoll gebunden, meist unglaublich schön gestaltet
