You aren’t allowed to use picnic sheets, they ask instead that you borrow their atami mats so that the grass can “breathe” (why is this only a problem at this park? Other parks allow vinyl sheets without issue.) But there aren’t even enough of the tatami mats for everyone to use, even on days that aren’t particularly crowded. Tripods and wooden stands are also not allowed because they’ll “damage the grass” The park is often closed for long periods of time for grass maintenance too.
It seems like the city is more focused on having green grass than having a park that can actually be used by the residents. Such a shame.
Dogs are not allowed but kids scream and run everywhere. I guess it’s a good park if you use want to let your kid run loose for a while, but I can’t recommend it to...

Usually they close it some time in November to January and around May to June (and maybe other times, I can't recall exactly) so if you're planning a picnic might want to check if it is in fact open. We've been told off for playing with balls and once or twice for using bubbles. I'm wondering what variety of grass they chose for a public park that apparently requires more maintenance than a golf course. They literally cover the entire thing with a tarp sometimes. Other than that it is a nice stretch of grass for kids to play and for relaxing with friends. Keep in mind many of the local kindergartens use it in the morning when the weather is nice so it may be...
Read moreNice little park with a small playground a shaded seating area and a big grass patch to sit on. There are many food options nearby from BlueBottle that sells coffee and light desserts to Racines that sells light meals, donuts and ice cream. They have toilets in the park and dogs are not particularly welcomed (they cannot be on the grass area). They have a super cute library service in what looks like little owl houses. Lovely cherry blossom trees nearby. They offer blankets to sit on the grass as they try to avoid having people sitting on plastic shed in the grass. Lovely coffee nearby are full of food options, small...
