I found fabric town amazing. It wasn't overwhelming like some people suggested to me. I navigated my way there on my return home as I had a day of travel and getting to Narita airport is easy from Nippori station. I found a locker at the train station for my suitcase and then ventured off. Each shop specialise in different fabrics and other crafts. I enjoyed stumbling across the discount Tomatoe store, so many fabric's at such low prices. If you love fabric, especially Japanese patterned and made fabrics, the place is perfect and you can spend hours shopping. However, decision fatigue is REAL in a place like this when the entire TOWN is dedicated to the business of fabric. You can get tired pretty easily and a trip here is not meant for anyone who doesn't like fabric or crafts. Read moreVery disappointing. I visited in 2019 before CoVid19 hit the world, and it was the most amazing street full of vibrant textile shops. I could have spent a couple of days there. Now, in 2025, it is a very sad dull street. TOMATO 🍅 has many smaller shops and there are not that many other shops to view. There is no vibrancy and excitement to the street anymore. I was looking for japanese fabric to purchase to bring home to Australia and found none.
