We spent 4 nights at this hotel in Nov. Arrived by train at Nippori station - dont follow Google direction (use South Exit); go for the East exit which has escalator and elevator which you dont need to lug your luggage down the South exit stairs. a 350M walk led us to the hotel. Hotel staff was helpful and able to communicate in english proficiently. We booked the 17M2 room and is a good size in Tokyo with what we paid. Room was clean and has individually controlled aircon. Do note changing of bedsheet is done only after the 3rd day though daily cleaning is available. This hotel is equipped with onsen which was a surprise for us. We paid for breakfast on 2 days and were impressed by the spread and taste - at 1760 yen per pax, it is a good value. There are eateries within stone throw distance and most are near the train station. Special mention - for those who like ramen, the little store next to MOS Burger is damn good! Nippori is near Ueno, Tokyo and Shinjuku, so it is a great choice for us in terms of location. Heading to airport is especially convenient from Nippori station - direct SkyLiner train (40 mins) or the slower local train (90 mins) can bring one to Narita airport. We booked this hotel early and reckoned it is of great value - for those booking it late, the price would have been 2.5X more;...
Read moreI really enjoyed my 5 night stay here. The location is so convenient with a short 5 min walk away from Nippori station, and a 7-11 just around the corner of the same block (plus tons of local food options around). My room was clean and quite spacious considering it’s still Tokyo, and the bed was comfortable. Also appreciated the strong water pressure in the shower! The public bath was relaxing and I enjoyed the “shampoo bar” which had lots of different Japanese shampoo brands to choose from. We opted out of the hotel breakfast as we wanted to explore other food options in the area, but you can still request breakfast on the day of if desired, even if it isn’t booked in your original plan. My family had to leave for one night as we were traveling to a ryokan, and the hotel offered baggage storage for us which was really convenient, since we were coming back to the same hotel. Everyone from the front desk employees to the cleaning ladies were polite, helpful, and explained things well. I’d definitely return to stay here if I go back to Tokyo. A couple recommendations of nearby places we enjoyed - an odenya called Takeshi right by Nippori station was great, and if you’re willing to walk about 10 minutes, there’s a huge supermarket called Life in the Higashi-Nippori area that’s well worth checking out that’s open...
Read moreI checked in at Almont Hotel Nippori around 4:30 PM and was assigned a room on the 2nd floor, directly in front of the elevator and next to the breakfast room. Due to our personal belief that staying in a room positioned exactly opposite an entrance or exit is not ideal, I politely requested a room change. However, the receptionist immediately declined, stating that no other rooms were available. Given that it was still early in the afternoon, this response seemed unreasonable. There was no effort to accommodate our request or even check for possible alternatives, which was quite disappointing.
To make matters worse, I later discovered a stain on the bed cover sheet that looked like blood. This raised concerns about cleanliness and housekeeping standards. A hotel should prioritize hygiene, and finding such a stain was unacceptable.
While the hotel may have good facilities, the lack of service-mindedness from the front desk and the cleanliness issue left a negative impression. Hospitality is about making guests feel comfortable, and unfortunately, that was not the case here. I hope management improves staff training and housekeeping standards to enhance the overall...
