On march 18 ‘24 We did the local evening Izakaya food tour with Oishii and it was amazing. We truly had a great time. Our tour guide was Kimi, who was very nice, cool to hang out with and entertaining. She facilitated the ordering since these places, for the most part, speak mainly Japanese and menus didn’t have other languages. We went to 4 different eateries or casual pubs, which were 3-6 minute walks between them and all of which had different ambiance but were cool places equally. No tourist around, only locals enjoying a good time. In each place we grabbed some bites and something to drink. We had really cold beer, and Kimi had great suggestions so we tried different types of Sake which included sweet, dry and sparkling sake, although they are flexible, so you can order something different if you prefer. Regarding the food we did some amazing very flavorful yakitori(chicken skewers), sashimi, okonomiyaki(savory pancakes) with chilli oil sauce that were a surprise and were amazing, Among other things. We finished the tour off with a local ice cream which had some very interesting but yummy flavors, our favorite was the Cherry blossom.

I Would definitely recommend this tour to anybody, especially if you want to try and visit some pubs to grab a drink, something to eat and have a cool chill...

We booked two food tours with Oishii food tours through Trailfinders in May - one in Tokyo and one in Kanazawa and both were exceptional! Yuki-san was our guide in Tokyo through Golden Gai and she was wonderful! So friendly, fun and informative. She dealt easily with the fact that we don’t eat sushi/sashimi and picked excellent places to eat and great food that was new to us and delicious. We got to experience izakayas in a way we never could have on our own and all with an exceptional guide. She introduced us to some lovely drinks also that became our favourites for the rest of our trip. Yukari-san was our guide in Kanazawa and she was exceptional! By the end we felt like we were dining with a friend, it was so enjoyable and comfortable! She is so warm, fun and interesting! We could have chatted all night. It was such a pleasure and her selections of restaurants and food were excellent. We got to taste different types of sake too which was a lovely addition! Both guides are an absolute credit to themselves and the company and we’d highly recommend them! If you’re looking for a food tour book Oishii food tours and you’ll have no regrets and get an excellent and authentic experience in Japan! If we manage to get back to Japan we’ll be booking...

Outstanding "Tokyo Street Food Tour" with our excellent tour guide Ririka (Lily).

Directions and meeting place were easy to follow. Small group tour started with a few interesting Japanese vegetables and groceries.

Ebisu at a weekend gets really busy as it is known for it's food and drink scene. This tour got us to three great places (Izakaya) with very different specialities, which as foreign tourists we wouldn't have been able to find.

The first was a grilled yakatori Izakaya. Grilled vegetables were delicious. Chicken was tasty, but the star for me was a beef kebab style skewer 😋

Seafood Izakaya next. Handwritten daily menu. We love sushi so adored the sashimi and sushi roll. You may think you've had good sashimi elsewhere in the world, but trust me the quality in Japan is off the scale.

The last was an Osaka food style Izakaya in an amazing space filled with small places next to each other. More really tasty food 😋 Excellent beer too 🍻

Lily made sure we left with good knowledge about chopsticks 🥢 etiquette and sushi terms. She also took my wife's love of sake to find her great sake at the stops.

Last stop was a boutique ice cream shop. As good as I have had (and that is saying a LOT!)

Thank you Lily 🥰

Highly...

Fantastic food tour, we would never have found these hidden away gems of restaurants. Great to be just our family of four in the tour with a guide. Out guide’s English was perfect and she gave us lots of insights not just about the food and restaurants but also into Japanese life and culture. Wonderful service, our train to Meguro was significantly delayed by over an hour and our wonderful guide waited for us and adjusted our tour so we didn’t miss the experience. Meguro is a great location with so many tiny bars and restaurants; squeezing into a ramen bar where you pay at the vending machine outside was fun and the ramen was excellent but we would have struggled to find this place if we hadn’t taken this tour. We certainly would never have found the tiny restaurant serving savoury pancakes and fish dishes on the top floor of a block and never mind ordered from the Japanese only menu. The restaurant’s decoration was a delight with paper stars hanging from the ceiling and quirky mini houses on the shelves and mini toy deer for chopstick rests. The food was delicious and very authentic. Wonderful tour, highly recommended.
