Visited on April 9 which is the day for the shrine’s grand festival. There’s still sakura flowers in the area, but I came for the special Hiwatari Shinto ritual stamp of which there are only 300 available in the whole multiverse. The fire extinguishing ceremony starts at 3pm and would have loved to participate except my schedule didn’t work out. The event is annual so you may want to go next year. If you come for the goshuin like me, know that the line is very long; waited for around half an hour. As a collector, you know it’s worth it to come just for that even if it’s a pretty straightforward shrine with neither too much grounds nor interestjng stuff to photograph. Of course they have sakura goshuins for a limited time in Spring.

🌸•Come for: early-blooming (Kawazu) sakura. Check social media to see if they're in bloom, using the hashtag #桜神宮. They're quite beautiful and they go all out on the sakura theme. 👎•That said, there aren't a great number of trees, and the grounds are quite small. The shrine itself is not impressive. I wouldn't recommend coming from afar outside of blooming season.
