Visited on April 9 which is the day for the shrine’s grand festival. There’s still sakura flowers in the area, but I came for the special Hiwatari Shinto ritual stamp of which there are only 300 available in the whole multiverse. The fire extinguishing ceremony starts at 3pm and would have loved to participate except my schedule didn’t work out. The event is annual so you may want to go next year. If you come for the goshuin like me, know that the line is very long; waited for around half an hour. As a collector, you know it’s worth it to come just for that even if it’s a pretty straightforward shrine with neither too much grounds nor interestjng stuff to photograph. Right on the way to Sakura Sinmachi station, around 200-300 meters from it, one can plan a quick visit anytime!
The location too is amidst residencies and on the main road where there are some good restaurants and convenience stores

Read moreAs march already began Sakura blooming has also begun. Right now all the blooming ones are mostly kawatsu types 河津桜。I came to Sakura shrine close to shibuya for this year’s first Sakura hanami 花見。
These pictures were taken as of march 5th 2025. There were only two kawatsu sakura trees blooming fully. Very strikingly beautiful. It was early in the morning but raining. I was the only one here. I could take pictures without being blocked by anyone or blocking others. There were also morning worshippers on and off.
