Tsurugaoka Castle is a flatland-style Japanese castle constructed in early Edo period in the city of Tsuruoka, Yamagata. It was the seat of the Sakai clan, a fudai daimyō clan who ruled over Shōnai Domain, Dewa Province in the Tōhoku region of northern Japan under the Tokugawa shogunate.

2023年10月11日に散策しました。 元は、大宝寺(武藤)氏の居城で大宝寺城と呼ばれていました。 天文年間(1533年頃)に兵火に見舞われ、武藤氏は、居城を大山の尾浦城に移したため、その後は支城となりました。 天正15年1587年に悪屋形と呼ばれた武藤義氏は、配下の前森蔵人に裏切られ、33歳で切腹して滅びました。その後、庄内は、上杉氏の領地となりました。 慶長6年1601年には、最上義光が庄内を征しました。 慶長8年1603年に大宝寺城は、最上氏により修復され、最上義光の隠居城とされます。酒田の東禅寺城が亀ヶ崎城と改称されたことにともない、大宝寺城も鶴ヶ岡城と改称されました。 元和8年1622年に最上氏が改易されたため、信州松代より酒井忠勝が庄内を治めることになりました。 戊辰戦争では、幕府側として戦い降伏します。 本丸跡に明治8年1875年に荘内神社が建立されました。御祭神は、初代酒井忠次(徳川家臣団の四天王筆頭)、2代酒井家次(大坂の陣参戦)、3代酒井忠勝(長野県の松代から庄内へ)、9代酒井忠徳(致道館設立)の4柱です。

It's pretty. We are doing the 100 Japanese castle stamp rally. How annoying that this place keeps the stamp inside so you can't just visit after hours, get the stamp and continue on your way. Had to stay overnight in this town just to get the stamp.

鶴ケ岡城を数年前に訪問👣致しました。鶴ヶ岡城は、室町時代初期、武藤長盛による築城が始まりといわれており、古くは大宝寺城と呼ばれ、武藤（大宝寺）氏滅亡後、越後上杉氏と主を変えたそうです。1601年には、山形の最上氏による庄内支配の拠点となり、その2年後に鶴ヶ岡城に改称されました。最上氏改易後の1622年、信州松代より酒井忠勝が入部して以降、藩主酒井氏は、1871年の廃藩置県まで12代・約250年に亘ってこの地を治めるとともに、その治世の間、鶴ヶ岡城が酒井氏の居城となりました。現在は、城郭🏯というよりも公園として市民に親しまれている様です。ちなみに、藤沢周平記念館も開館されており時代劇ファンにはたまらんですよ🎵是非とも、ご訪問👣下さい❗

城跡は鶴岡公園となっており、特に本丸跡は酒井家を御祭神とする荘内神社になっている。本丸を取り囲む様に巨大な水堀が残されており、春にはさくら名所100選の名の通り、730本の桜が咲き乱れる。 鎌倉期の頃から大宝寺城と言う名前で在る城で、1580年頃まで武藤氏の城だった。1600年頃に最上氏が支配する様になって、酒田の亀ヶ崎城に合わせ鶴ヶ岡城に改称された(鶴と亀)。その後1622年に酒井忠勝氏の居城となり、明治維新で解体となった。2022年は酒井忠勝公庄内入部から400年目の年である。 鶴岡駅からは徒歩20分ほどでアクセス可。城跡の東側に及び北東端の県道349号線を挟んだ反対側に無料駐車場有り。

外周をゆったり周ってお濠を眺めようとする諸君は所要時間は約６０分はみておきたいね。全般的に際立った城跡遺構やら建造物は皆無ではあるものの土塁はなかなかのものだし、櫓跡石碑やマップなんかは丁寧に整備されておるのじゃよ。お濠は綺麗に整備されており春夏秋冬観る者を癒してくれる風景である。城跡公園としてよく整備されている、これだけで良いじゃないか、と私は思う。ガッツリ遺構を期待してはならぬ、が、心地良いエリアであるという点に関してはおそらくほぼほぼ異論を挟む余地は無いのではないか、と私は思い、または思いたいね。お濠を楽しみたまえ、諸君。ご安全に。長文にお付き合い頂きありがとうございますか？
