Momijidani Teien Garden — Attraction in Wakayama

和歌山城公園の北西に位置する日本庭園です。紀州徳川家の第一代藩主である徳川頼宣によって隠居所として築かれた庭園です。 規模はそれほど大きくなく、周回するだけなら5分程度で済みます。但し園内は起伏が多く、園内の小径の多くは石畳であるため、雨の日は滑りやすいのに注意が必要です。障碍を持つ方の利用は非常に難しいでしょう。小径も狭いため、大きな荷物はコインロッカー等に預けた上で来園した方がよさそうです。 鬱蒼とした木々に囲まれているからか、和歌山城公園周辺の喧騒はほとんど聞こえません。小さな庭園ではありますが、起伏が多いからか、様々な角度から庭園の景色を楽しむことが出来ます。この庭園の異名にもある通り、秋が深まる季節の紅葉が実に見事です。あまり陽の光が当たらないように設計されているからか、深く落ち着いた朱色の紅葉を楽しむことが出来ます。

This Japanese garden is located in the northwest of Wakayama Castle Park. The garden was built by Yorinobu Tokugawa, the first lord of the Tokugawa family in Kishu, as his retreat. The scale of the garden is not very large and it only takes about 5 minutes to go around. However, there are a lot of ups and downs in the garden and many of the paths are paved with stones, so be careful not to slip on rainy days. So, it would be very difficult for people with disabilities to use the park. The paths are also narrow, so it would be better to leave your large luggage in a coin locker before coming to the park. Perhaps because it is surrounded by dense trees, you can hardly hear the hustle and bustle around Wakayama Castle Park. Although it is a small garden, you can enjoy the view of the garden from various angles, probably because of its many undulations.
