Generally the hotel is ok, room is clean, lobby is nice, bed is comfy.||||the room i stayed 621, apparently the aircon is spoilt, we couldnt get a 20c temperature, and when i set it to 23c, it comes out hot air which is terrible, but luckily over the night, its kinda cold, so we're ok.||||and again ,this hotel is pretty near to the Wakayama Castle, and other attraction park which i love it. the view from the room ,is the Wakayama Castle, beautiful and splendid.||||One problem, NO WIFI, as a hotel with this kind of style, i strongly believe internet connection is now a compulsory for all hotels, i suggest this hotel should be able to do so too.||||other than that, it is a lovely stay, .||||oh and a reminder, for those who are staying and the booking was done by a friend, please check how many nights, we were made to pay for another night and we weren't informed that we are supposed to stay for 1 night. but after our japanese friend explained, we got our refund back, but certainly it wasn't nice though.||||but seriously, apart from that,...
Read moreThis hotel is across the street from Wakayama Castle and offers very good accommodations. It was about a 2 km taxi ride from Wakayama Station and it is possible to walk if you are traveling light. The lobby area was fairly nice and accommodating. When I arrived, the person checking me in was quite helpful in aiding me with my sightseeing desires. The English spoken by the front desk personnel was reasonably good. The room was typical of Japanese business hotels or perhaps a tad larger. However, I was staying on the 8th floor so my view was quite good. The price was slightly high at 15,000 yen for a Saturday night stay. But many of the rooms in town were booked so it turned out to be a bargain. The entrance to Wakayama Castle was about a five minute walk and there were a handful of restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast buffet at the Shangri-La restaurant on the 9th floor was very good for 840 yen. In all, this was a good choice for a hotel in Wakayama, especially if one of your primary interests is visiting...
Read moreI came to Wakayama for sightseeing during the end-of-year break and wanted to see some sights. I talked to the staff about which sights I could see and I was offered a free ticket to see the castle which I was told would be open the next day. It wasn't. In fact, it was scheduled to be closed for a few days. I was also instructed to visit a certain restaurant to try the original type of ramen from Wakayama, but when I go there, the people told me they had no such food. I had to find another place on my own. I have to give them points for politeness and eagerness to help, but they need to be better informed. The hotel itself was good value for money and breakfast was 840 yen extra, but the buffet was plentiful. It was raining, but the hotel lent out umbrellas for free. My advice would be to do your own research online before you come, but it is definitely an option for a traveler...
