Discovered this restaurant on Google Maps and Instagram. Read the reviews and we decided to give it a try. It was worth the wait, we finished touring Wakayama Castle at 4pm and just walked around the city until the restaurant opened at 5pm. Very tasty!! The unagi is perfectly cooked. We both ordered the Hitsumabushi and enjoyed it 3 ways per the helpful instructions. We have been in Japan for a little over 2 months and this has been the best unagi we have had so far! Everything served was delicious. The manager was very nice and provided a menu in English. The restaurant is small and comfortable with light music playing. Excellent, we (wife + baby) are just in Wakayama for a day trip from Osaka (New Zealand) and wanted unagi, very upmarket style restaurant specialising in fresh, delicious unagi sets. Different vibe from classic unagi shops which want to show they serve unagi with a showy restaurant. The restaurant is very exemplary. Located right next to Wakayama Castle, the Unagi restaurant serves hitsumabushi in half, 3/4 or full portions.
