One of the most beautiful (in my opinion second, less pretty only than the old Žvėrynas bridge) and the newest bridge in central Vilnius over the Neris river. It connects Vilnius old town to Žirmūnai neighbourhood and is basically a gateway right into the heart of the Old Town as the National Museum of Lithuania, Gediminas Hill and the Cathedral are right there when you cross it. The bridge was named after Mindaugas, King of Lithuania, and was opened in 2003 during the celebrations of the 750th anniversary of Mindaugas' coronation. The bridge is 101 metres long. It itself is a beautiful sight to see. It also offers beautiful vistas to the Gediminas Hill & Tower, as well as to the river Neris. On a hot summer day it also casts a much needed shade and you can sit it and just relax with a beautiful sight in front of you. On various occasions, such as marking independence days of foreign countries or other commemorative days, it’s being lit up in...

#zirmunai and #snipiskes are on the opposite side of the river from the old town. Unlike the old town, it is a modern city with many high-rise buildings. It ’s so different that I ’m very surprised. There are many companies and luxury residential areas here. Local people seem to call this area New York, Lithuania. (They say they are so cute.) I couldn't go here this time, but I want to go around next time. instagram:aed_traveler offten...

It was built in 2003, celebrating our King Mindaugas 750 years anniversary of crowning. Bridge looks modern and mostly what I like is between it and Green Bridge - love confession, made by artist Gitenis Umbrasas. One side of the river says "I love you" and the other answers "I love you too". Translation is free, but the meaning...

Nice bridge which connects the old-town with the northern subareas of Vilnius. It can be crossed by feed easily. In the north part you find shopping malls and modern offices, in the south part there will be churches and old architecture from a couple of hundred years ago (oldtown stuff, you know? ;D)
