Valdovų sodas - gastrobaras — Restaurant in Vilnius

One of the worst experiences in Vilnius so far: Staff is not motivated and passively aggressively rude. We were 6 people with 2 young children, so obviously you bring food at least for everyone at the same time, but preferably you bring food to children as they are the least patient. So, when my wife got her salad I asked waiter when could we expect the food of the children and the answer was "it's still baking".

Food is terrible. First of all, I ordered beef stake and it was rear made. Nobody asked me what kind of steak I would like. Same with my mothers tuna stake. Nobody asked. Potato pancakes where just not tasty and strangely sour. Kiev cutlet was so small I couldn't find it in my plate for 15 minutes. Nobody warned us it would be soooo small. Smudges in a tuna steak were not baked.

I ordered kombucha, finished it in like 5min. and nobody offered me a new bottle for the rest of the dinner.

Located in the picteresque terrace near the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania with a direct view to the Hill of Gediminas, this lounge called “Valdovų sodas” (“Garden of The Grand Dukes”) is a great place for a drink or two in the evening of a busy day walking around the old town. What is most interesting about this place is that it’s actually located in a place where the Grand Dukes of Lithuania had their little green garden. Fairly recent archaeological excavations (before the terrace was established here) showed that even orange trees were grown in that garden in ~XVI century, which is an absolutely stunning finding having in mind the harsh winters of Lithuania. Now this place features a lovely garden with herbs and flowers and a quaint little fountain resembling those seen in gardens all over Italy. The restaurant's stunning location and beautiful garden create an idyllic setting that's perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. The Patagonia squids and prawns for starters were delicious. The homemade sausages and chicken breast for the main course were equally delicious and left us feeling completely satisfied. The only minor downside was that the staff could have been a bit more welcoming and friendly, which would have made the experience even more enjoyable.
