Highly unsatisfied with the advertising of this place, an absolute misrepresentation. Our family went there at around 8am-8.30 am on a Tuesday 16.8.2022, only to be told that the beach opens at 9 a.m. This was very inconvenient as we had an elderly and a toddler on board and had traveled quite some distance. The boys who were stationed to manage the parking informed us that the facilities i.e. the water sports games were not open therefore the beach was not open to public at the moment. We clarified that we were there to sit on the beach not play watersports yet they sent us on our way. Following that, we had to stop on the opposite side of the road where there were ample space to stop a vehicle without hindering/encumbering the road, so that my elderly father could consume his medications after his breakfast. Not more than 3 minutes from having stopped there, a police officer arrived and stopped about 400 meters away from us, at the entrance of the so called "public" beach and were signaled, for what reason we were not clear. 5 minutes later, he approached us and told us to leave as we were stopped on private property. After explaining our circumstances, the police insisted that we left the premise immediately. I must applaud our law enforcement services for being so prompt, stern and efficient at handling private commercial matters. We highlighted to the police that we wanted to access the public beach and were subsequently informed by him that the path way leading to the beach is privately owned by Desaru Coast but was unclear as to the actual beach itself. He went on to inform us that the beach and the borders to the ocean had different ownership status to justify why we were not allowed access into the beach. A layman public individual will not possess such an information. To us, "public" means open to the public as would a local playground or park in a neighborhood. Be that as it may, the heart of the problem is NOT who OWNS the beach or the path leading to it nor the coast line but ADVERTISING! It goes straight down to MISREPRESENTATION/MISLEADING INFORMATION! The beach is advertised as "PUBLIC", a very loosely coined term that HAS IN FACT MISLED THE PUBLIC! We do not mind the parking fee and etc as we understand that the beach needs to be maintained, it is a beautiful beach and the owners have done a great job. NEVERTHELESS! It does not take a genius to know that PUBLIC connotes a meaning other than that perpetuated or intended by Desaru Coast. IT IS NOT A PUBLIC BEACH! TANJUNG BALAU is a PUBLIC beach! Stop misleading the public to trap them to wait for your beach operation hours so that they have no choice but to succumb to your ill-thought-off and borderline dishonest advertising. It is quite ridiculous that a beach has operation hours. In a world that is moving towards being highly commercial, even beaches are consumed in the name of profit. Nice. Barricading a beach on top of that, is very heartbreaking. Please fix your advertising, have a word with the respective department! Absolutely disappointing and a waste of our time.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of a beach offering breathtaking views and immaculate sands. This serene oasis welcomes visitors to unwind, enjoy picnics, or savor BBQ gatherings against a backdrop of natural splendor. The pristine sand invites you to kick back and relax, while the tranquil ambiance sets the perfect scene for leisurely activities. During the last visit, guests enjoyed convenient access to this coastal retreat with a parking fee of RM10. Whether you seek solitude to contemplate the ocean's vastness or gather with friends and family for a delightful barbecue, this beach caters to all preferences. With its inviting atmosphere and scenic surroundings, it's an ideal destination for those seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Plan your next outing to this charming beach and experience the joy of basking in its beauty while indulging in your favorite pastimes. Whether it's a lazy afternoon picnic or an evening barbecue under the stars, this beach promises unforgettable moments of relaxation and enjoyment for all who visit.

An Expatriot from Sydney, Mid-North Coast and Adelaide. The best Malaysian beach experience for a dip. Water depth is shallow (like Adelaide) in comparison to Syd/East Coast. Sand same colour as East Coast, but texture, sticks like Whale Beach. Has the charm of our National Park locations, not over developed. But there is small local market integrated instead of permanent retail shops which is a win-win for keeping the place a local secret. The resorts and shopping strip is well separated which is great. Hot tip for swimming: I wore my Ladies- wear your Sweaty Betty 3/4 leggings & a Babe's of the Shade Zip up TShirt Rashie. Ticks the boxes for local modesty & prevents exposure to sea lice/micro-jellyfish. (A hot shower will do the trick if you get em). Beach format 14 - 20 km Bay No surf, great for renting the Jet Skis. Water temp 26

I visited Desaru Public Beach on a quiet Monday afternoon and paid an RM10 entrance fee. While the beach itself was clean, well-maintained, and a pleasant place to relax, the state of the facilities left much to be desired.

The beach is undoubtedly the highlight of this location, offering a serene and clean environment for picnics, walks, or simply enjoying the sea breeze. However, my experience was dampened by the poorly maintained amenities. The toilets were in dire condition, with broken doors and unclean surroundings, making it an unpleasant experience for visitors.

The surau, although conveniently located, was only moderately clean. Women, in particular, might find it inconvenient, as the open wudhu area lacks privacy. It would be much better to perform wudhu in the toilets, though they too require significant improvement.

While I appreciated the efforts to maintain the beach itself, the poor state of the facilities makes me question the purpose of the entrance fee. As visitors, we expect the fee to contribute to the upkeep of basic amenities, and unfortunately, this was not reflected in my visit. I hope the management takes steps to address these issues and improve the experience for future visitors, as the beach has so much potential to be an enjoyable...
