Take it from a JB native, when you have important shopping to do, and serious cash to drop, visit this Midvalley- it wonāt disappoint!
This place has a good mix of all kinds of store, catering more to the middle class to upper end of shoppers.
You can expect all your luxury brands here- no shortage of Chanel, YSL, Tumi, MCM, Michael Kors, Coach for the ladies. SOGO, the key department store tenant here, carries a plethora of luxury makeup/skincare brands. Sephora is here as well. (Naming the more expensive stuff, lah!)
For the men, we have watch galleries carrying Rolex. Also, brands like Braun Buffel carry lots of male stuff too.
For the mid-range shoppers, expect a lot of brands here too. Onitsuka Tiger, JD sports, Sportsdirect, Uniqlo, Royal Sporting House, Charles and Keith- for apparel. Thereās something for everyone- I think. Bath and Body Works has a more democratic price range too- definitely check it out!
For children, I spotted a ToyrUs, and a Lego shop.
For sports lover, thereās Under Armour and tons of sporting goods available for you here. Really!
Pros: Very fancy! The developers who built this are famous for Midvalley in Klang Valley, which is VERY atas as well.
Got a wide selection for everyone. You donāt need to worry about your family not having anything to oogle at. That being said, stuff here is pretty expensive. In my opinion, thereās not much price arbitrage to be made between SG and here la. Do your own due diligence before buying something- it may not be cheaper.
A ton of eating options and cafes. Expect your starbucks and cbtl. But however, I donāt think you should settle your makan here. Not really famous for the food here- methinks.
Ton of seating areas for bored fathers/husbands/boyfriends to sit and zone out.
Free WIFI! Must really recommend this! Everywhere got wifi- up to standard in Msia though, most restaurants also got wifi!
Even if you donāt want to spend money, the vibe and feel is very good lah. The mix of highs and lows here, are VERY, VERY shoppable for window shoppers š!
Cons: Itās nothing you canāt find overseas.
Donāt expect to find something super niche/boutique. Youāre not likely to find those up and coming small designers. Only the established brands set up shop in here.
Can get crowded here.
P.S. You can pay RM20 for valet. Just stop your car at the entrance, pass the keys, and they settle for you. Very VERY convenient. I think itās the only mall in JB to do this. Please try this out- I also didnāt know, then did this after my relative recommend this!
Overall- must go! See for yourself this splendid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook the weekend to Malaysia and our plan is to visit MidValley Southkey, City Square Mall and take the train back at 7pm.
My husband and I reached City Square at 1.30pm and called for a grab to MidValley Southkey. It took us more than an hour to reach the alighting point of the shopping mall. Because of the bad traffic conditions, I witnessed a lot of passengers alighting at the highway and walk into the mall.
After reaching the mall at 3.30pm, we had a quick lunch. Fearing that the traffic will be as bad, we decided not to shop within MidValley Southkey mall and call for a grab to return to City Square. Within the next 5 mins, we came to realisation that cars arenāt moving. The cars are unable to drive out, hence the cars are unable to drive in. Being a tourist, we are clueless about the alternatives to exit the mall.
Fearful that the driver will cancel our ride and in turn missed our train ride, we chat with other surrounding people and met with a couple who is going in the same direction as us. They waited for an hour and even though their grab says that it is 8mins away. We shared our concern with them and decided to carpool. We had 2 grab bookings but it got cancelled by grab drivers at least 3 times.
When we finally got into a car, we asked the driver on what is the exact situation on the road. The driver mentioned that this is a madness that happens every weekend. The whole mall has 4 entrances for cars to come in but only 2 exits to go out. To make things worse, there is a traffic light somewhere that only allow 7 to 10 cars to pass depending on their driving speed.
In all, we took more than an hour of standing waiting, 2 hours of sitting in the car waiting in the traffic. From the time we call for grab at 4pm, we reached City Square after 7pm. Yes, we missed our train ride back to Singapore.
If you are in for a MidValley Escape Traffic jam, have fun waiting. Otherwise, avoid it...
