Bao Jun Hot Pot 爆君火锅 — Restaurant in Johor

recommended by a friend who is a frequent goer of 10+ times - mentioning its better than popular hotpot chain HDL, Visited on Friday Dinner as walk in. This free flow buffet offers great choice of ingredients and meat selections! ordered 1 portion of all the available meat (except chicken and prawn) to taste test but did not expect to have such a big 1 portion unlike other buffets i’ve visited. Thus i only ordered once for the meats during the dining time 😂 their meats are all fresh and not frozen. The mala chicken gizzard was unique and had kicks!

Tonkatsu milk broth was strongly recommended by my friend and so chose another red soup - thai tomyum soup to makeup our meal. The soup broth are the chef’s kiss for the meal at bao jun as their soup doesn’t taste like MSG but fragrance comes from the pure ingredients, like the fresh lemon boiled within the tomyum soup!

also their cheese foam drinks offered within the mobile order page was very nice! but they also have other drink selection near the sauce station.

Visited Bao Jun Hot Pot for lunch on a public holiday, where the buffet was RM105 per person (usual price is RM84 on regular days). While the holiday pricing is steeper, I still found the experience worthwhile.

We chose the Tomato and Milky Tonkotsu soup bases. The tomato broth, though not as rich or punchy as Hai Di Lao’s version, still had a pleasant and noticeable tomato flavour that made it quite enjoyable. The Milky Tonkotsu broth was light yet flavourful, which worked well since it didn’t get too overwhelming towards the end of the meal.

In terms of variety, there’s a good spread of meats, seafood, and vegetables. While the meat is frozen (as expected in most buffets), it was still fresh-tasting and of decent quality. Nothing felt overly processed or low-grade, which is always a good sign for buffet-style hotpot.

The only thing I didn't like was the limited amount of desserts. Would prefer ice cream to some jelly instead

Overall, I’d say Bao Jun offers good value for money, especially considering the buffet-style setup and ingredient quality. Definitely a place I’d return to, especially on a non-public holiday for the...

This hotpot is a must have when my family is at Mid Valley esp it is my girl's fave however the recent visit has made us reconsider to go back or continue to recommend to others.I was having a bad tummyache so decided to forgo dinner but had to accompany my family into the restaurant to feed my boy.Told the staff cashier(seems like supervisor-male wearing specs) that I won't be eating.Towards the end,my boy couldn't finish some leftover soup in his bowl and I didn't want to waste it.So happened that the supervisor at the cashier spotted me drinking and went to confirm with the staff if I did consume the food.He even walked to our table,stand beside giving me the stare either to chase me off or ensuring that I am not eating anything.I felt offended with his attitude and gesture.My seating position is right in front of the CCTV and there are so many staff walking around.I even left the restaurant for quite awhile as I was having a tummy upset.It is such a calculative gesture and bad customer service from a staff that will deter loyal...
