This is my first time bringing my family to the bird park and we had a wonderful time.

———————————————————— Some helpful reminders for future visitors:

-The parking space in front of the park and opposite the road are free.

-Come early in the morning when it is not very hot. It is best not to come here when it is raining.

-The bird show starts at 11.30am for those who are interested.

-Bring natural insect repellent to reduce mosquito bites.

-Be careful when taking photos with your mobile phone on the bridge as there are large gaps between the planks where the phone could fall into. ————————————————————

The ticket prices of RM38 and RM15 for adults and child below 12 years old respectively are very reasonable considering the amount of effort it takes to maintain the park and pay the staffs. From what we heard, there are over 3000 birds and 300+ bird species here which is no easy task to be taken care of.

All the staffs we met were very friendly towards us and I really like the bird feeding sessions because it is not something most people get to experience. There are also tortoises, crocodiles, rabbits, and pythons besides the large variety of birds here for visitors to enjoy.

One thing to note, it would be dishonest to say the park is perfect as the water maintenance difficulty is palpable (To be fair, staffs can’t change water for everything in the park daily) but it is still better than a lot of the parks out there.

The main problem seems to be the bird show as some birds aren’t performing according to the instructions given by the trainer. But it is still nice to be able to take photos with the birds and python.

Overall, the enjoyment one could get here outweighs the minor problems so everyone should visit this park...

I recently visited Penang Bird Park and was excited to see the variety of birds, especially the African Hornbill, which was a highlight for me. However, I was deeply disappointed by the overall condition of the park.

The environment is not well-maintained, with stagnant ponds and dirty water attracting mosquitoes. Many birds appeared unwell-some with feather loss or visible skin issues-and the ostrich seemed isolated and had an eye disease. Some birds were showing signs of stress, and certain enclosures were far too small for their occupants.

For example, the eagles were kept in cages approximately 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide, which is clearly inadequate for their size and needs. Upon entering, there was a small photoshoot opportunity with a Bay Owl, but sadly, the owl looked sick and frail. It was heartbreaking to see.

To make things worse, the photo wasn't included in the RM50 entrance fee for locals-it was priced separately at RM30 to RM50, which I feel is not worth it at all considering the conditions.

For such a high entrance fee, I expected much better care for the animals and better maintenance of the park. I sincerely hope the management takes steps to improve the conditions for the well-being of the animals and to provide a better experience...

This place has a decent number of different bird species, mostly in cages. It's hard to take pictures of the animals because of the wire mesh, but I kind of understand why the openings are so small to protect the animals from hurting themselves. Needless to say it is hot and humid there, so if you are prone to mosquito attacks then you should take whatever precautions you seem necessary. I can see that there are vending machines that used to sell food for certain birds that visitors could feed, but most of those machines look broken and there was no food to purchase.

There is a big enclosure that you can walk into, and you will find many parakeets and other smaller birds especially when you go up to the second level. Extend your arm, provided you are not scared of birds, and you may want experience a close encounter with some new friends.

There are daily bird shows so check timing before you go. By the way there is a difference in the price of the entry ticket for locals and foreigners. Just know what to expect. I recommend bringing an extra T-shirt to change into when you are done. A pretty new Sunway Mall is within walking distance and it is a nice place to cool down and get...

This is potentially a lovely place to visit, but the first impression is poor as you are led into the gardens is all the small cages with exotic birds. It all looks a little sad and I can't imagine the birds are too happy here. As you follow the Sini signs you come past many aviaries where the birds are freer and some where you can feed them with seed from coin operated dispenser. Eventually you come across more pavilions with much better conditions for the birds and a few other animals like crocodiles. The walk around turns out to be quite lovely, but when you need some aircon and a Cafe, it isn't there. The restaurant was closed, the airconditioned shop sold a few drinks but seats were limited to some with no aircon. There are no eating options close by either. This place could be so much more. I hope the excessive entry pri$$e will be used to improve the facilities here.
