Mykori - Seberang Jaya — Restaurant in Penang

Went to the shop around 5pm for an early dinner. Ordered Combo Set with Boneless Chicken (Sweet Soy Garlic Sauce), Spicy Ramyeun and iced Mixberry Tea, Lava Chicken Chicken (Salted Egg Sauce), and a Chocolate Bomboloni.

Boneless Chicken was okay-ish, sauce was a bit runny, did not coat the chicken pieces properly, so we would need to wipe the chicken onto the sauce pooled at the bottom of the serving bowl. At the time the chicken was at our table, it was not even warm, and batter was not crunchy at all. The sweet part of the sauce was there, but no hint of garlic.

Spicy Ramyeun was missing a key ingredient, spice. Not spicy at all, and very lightly seasoned (an instant cup/bowl noodle would have tasted better). Was also cold by the time we got the Ramyeun order.

The kimchi was meh, could be better. The iced Mixberry Tea is okay, slightly less sweet, but that fits our taste. Bomboloni was sad, chocolate was barely there (mostly just whipping cream), dough is almost flat and shriveled.

Lava Chicken was a disaster. In the menu they showed stringy cheese on top of the chicken. In reality, the cheese sauce (probably low cheese percentage) pooled at the bottom after they poured onto the chicken. Then they poured the Salted Egg Sauce, so now we just taste the Salted Egg, not the cheese. To make it worse, we found an uncooked chicken drummet, so we returned them to the kitchen. Since it was getting late (we were there until 6.30pm-ish), we asked for the Lava Chicken to be wrapped up for takeaway. Our mistake for not checking before going back, but upon reaching home, the chicken seemed to be re-fried, are now dark brown in colour, no cheese was in sight, and the Salted Egg Sauce seemed to have been poured in before placing the chicken on top.

The time they took to prepare the food was quite long. We did not mind to wait, but when served with food as mentioned above, that makes us feel like our time and money were not well spent. For the quality of food, they are slightly overpriced.

Interestingly enough, there is only one menu booklet in the shop, and we are required to order in front of the cashier. So if the person in front of you took 20 minutes to decide what order, you will have to stand behind them for 20 minutes with nothing to do but wait. I cannot imagine the wait during lunch hour rush.

The shop also need to improve on overall cleanliness. We understand that the wooden tray looks good, but if not properly cleaned and dried, mold will start to grow, and that is not a good way to serve food to customers. If you go to the restroom at the back, you will have to use a bare-minimum looking toilet, with sink that might have not been cleaned for weeks.

Atmosphere within the dining area is okay, table are well-spaced, with minimal decorations hung up on the wall.

I am sorry for this low rating Mykori, but this was our second visit, and second disappointment. I sincerely hope the owner can take this feedback positively,...

I had never write any review but this was really A very bad experience on the “one”staff who was on duty at the moment at Mykori Seberang Jaya. When we first pushed the door, she showed us a very frustrated face like she was being disturbed by our presence as she was very “busy” watching her phone. There were no customers at that moment. She knew that we were looking at her and she still showed us the frown eyebrow and did not even ask us anything we want and was standing and only standing there to wait for us to make order. Service was slow, with long waits despite the shop being nearly empty. The customer service was poor. The food was overly spicy; we ordered kimchi jjigae, and the menu didn't indicate it was spicy, so I ordered it for the kids. However, it was too spicy even for an adult. We won’t be returning. The cleanliness was lacking; even my 10-year-old son remarked that the toilet was very dirty, and plates were left uncleared on tables. When I provided feedback, the staff gave me a dirty look and turned away without responding. The staff has no manners.
