My event in Ipoh finished at 530 pm and I rushed to the train station. My train was supposed to be 8:30 pm and I had rushed there without taking my dinner.
I was informed that there was a delay of 20 minutes. At 930 pm I went to ask the staff again and was informed that need to wait. Finally the train arrived at 10:25 pm and I reached home at 1 am😴
KTM should make announcement of how long the delay and if long should provide at least some light refreshments 😕
The announcement only was made after after 1 hour! Unexpected events can cause delays but if KTM explains and announce early, we can understand. 😔
I was hungry and tired but no cafe to eat. The shop which was supposed to be opened was closed. If must me made clear to operators that they cannot close until the last train has left the station.
The waiting area was hot and stuffy, no aircond.
This is not a common issue but I am posting so that people can bring along water and some snacks when travelling.
I hope KTM will take this as a lesson...
Read moreWas excited to take Malaysian train for the very first time from Ipoh to butterworth, train arrives only about 15mins later than departure time. Toilet in business class train floor is wet because of the manual bidet. When I told the train crew that the toilet is running out of toilet paper, her reply was just meh instead of ok thank you for telling me. Business class seat comes with food. Food served was sufficient with snacks and drinks but the chicken was rather hard, not tender at all. Crew speaks limited and basic English, tea, coffee, chicken, rice, other than that if you can’t speak Malay, service was rather quiet and standard. After meal service, you don’t see the crew until meal collection and until you arrive at the destination. Overall train experience was ok. There’s no wow effect eventhough you’re travelling in business class train. Remember to keep your train ticket to scan to go out into butterworth or into your final...
Read moreThe Ipoh railway station is an old colonial building and it is still in operation. You can take the intercity trains to the north and south. The trains have been upgraded in recent years and the new train model operates with electricity. The train service is okay, however the KTM service is one of the worst in the country. If you want to buy a ticket, you must bring your patience as the staff are unfriendly and very slow. They were mostly on their cellphones playing chats and apps, and the willingness to serve customers is zero. Be patient and you will get there. Spend some time walk around the railway station which is one of the highlights in town. Ignore the rude taxi drivers and salesmen and you will be fine. Oh, ignore also the car drivers that parked wildly! Transport rules don't exist in...
