Located in the middle of the town. Recommended to take a ride there since apparently it's not very pedestrian friendly. And it's hot. There's a specified spot for e-hailing, so don't get confused. Parkings are limited.
Building is old and maintenance is definitely minimal despite it being a historical structure. Some vendors are setting up shop in and outside the train station. There used to be a hotel way back when, but don't know if it was operational in modern time. Prayer rooms are inside the waiting room, past the haunted looking stairs.
Counter opens from 04:00 a.m. - 09:00 p.m.
Waiting room is not very big, but at least there's fans blowing. Seats are plenty, though they're not for resting.
People arriving from Kuala Lumpur and trying to exit the station is… crowded and hilarious. There's only 4 gates and tourists generally don't know how to queue or use the gate. Entering the gate on the other hand is quite peaceful since the train has not arrived yet.
Restrooms are… surprisingly modern, though definitely need more maintenance. Was told that the woman's restroom had a leek.
Place could definitely be haunted with the worn town...
Read moreA wonderful way to travel from KL to Ipoh in 2+ hours on the train. 5 stars for the journey. They even sell food onboard the train: nasi lemak, coffee and more. But sadly, zero stars for the Ipoh railway station maintenance. The women's toilet flushed water all over the floor instead of into the toilet. No soap to wash hands. No toilet roll. The roof all around the station is leaking in multiple places. The railway station cafe food is awful. I triple-confirmed an order of fried rice with zero spiciness, but it came spicy. The mixed veg in the fried rice was oxidised and turning black - I thought it was quite a feat to screw up mixed veg. They have a huge menu but they can't deliver on it. I wish they would cut it down to just 10 items, and do...
Read moreThe main and only railway station in Ipoh. It has many years of history. Has been refurbished from those days where trains run without ac. Now it's very convenient to go everywhere from here. Up north to Butterworth or down south to Johor. Kudos to KTMB for providing the train services for all. We can have an option not to drive or take bus which is never punctual depending on traffic on the road. Only thing is, there is charges for using the toilet at this station. I wonder why? KL Sentral doesn't charge commuters for this. Maybe they should provide more food option for commuters too. Now just some stall...
