HZ Ban Loong Hotel, Ipoh Old Town Date : 1-2 October 2022 (2D1N) Booking: Agoda Price RM157 (this is after minus the voucher, I don't remember the original price) Room type: Family room Classic hotel, heritage feel like that. This hotel is relatively new under the management of Zamburger Hotel, previously under other management. ✅️Check in/out We arrived at almost 3pm, can check in straight away. Get one room key & access card to enter the hotel (after 11pm there was no receptionist) Deposit RM50 cash, when you check out you can get it back, try to ask for a late check out but because there is another customer in the room, it can't be paid... it's ok, we understand. Just try our luck because our train is at 3.30 pm. ✅️Room Room area 25 square meters There is one bunk bed, under a queen mattress + over a single mattress The room is quite spacious, the tiled floor is quite cool, the deco is basic & clean (no dust or scattered hair 😃). Comfortable mattresses, pillows & blankets. There are 3 bath towels, medium thickness. There was a kettle, 3in1 coffee mix, glasses & 3 bottles of mineral water, no fridge. TV has mytv basic channel. There is wifi, but I'm not sure how fast it is because it's useless. The bathroom/toilet is clean, there are 3 toothbrushes, bath soap in a dispenser. Since there are four of us in 3A1C, I requested an extra bed, but the hotel did not provide an extra bed because the condition of their extra bed was not satisfactory, they are in the process of changing it to a new one. ✅️No breakfast & no swimming pool ✅️ As long as you can ask from the reception, I'm not sure about the iron plaque, because I don't use iron 😀 ✅️There is also a shared bathroom/toilet ✅️The hotel lobby is located at the back of the reception, there is a sofa & table for eating, beautiful for those who like to eat. ✅️Water filter with cold & hot water is also available. ✅️ 2-story hotel, no elevator, but there is a downstairs room, so if you have knee problems going up the stairs, please request a downstairs room. Places of interest around the hotel; ➡️ +-400 meters to Concubine Lane & the surrounding area ➡️ +- 700 meters to Ipoh Padang ➡️ +- 500 meters to the train station ➡️ +-300 meters to the State Mosque ➡️ +-1km to Kinta Riverwalk ➡️ many Chinese/Malay/Indian restaurants in the hotel area, Speedmart is also in the nearby hallway. Honestly, this hotel area is quite quiet compared to the hotels around Concubine Lane, cars can be parked in front of the hotel, public parking (no review because I didn't bring a car). Thanks Mila Kamila for sharing the experience. Overall I am satisfied with this hotel even though it is a budget hotel. The staff is ok, friendly, and very helpful Note: if you want to ride ets and park your car in klsentral, you can park at TLK Complex, DBKL indoor parking, there is a lift, rate is RM11.++ per day (including tax), but you have to walk a bit.

Our room (#2 on the ground floor) has twin beds and is of decent size. The walls are brick on all sides.I don’t know if there’s a source of fresh air. The A/C works great. It has a bathroom with a toilet and open shower area. We found a resident cockroach in the bathroom in the corner behind the door. We caught him and released him outside. The owner needs to caulk the holes around the sink pipe; otherwise, more cockroach friends will come in. There is water dripping from the ceiling onto the bed. I am thinking that it may be condensation from the a/c. There’s no one at the front desk in attendance so it is moot to have a phone in your room. You buzz yourself in and out with your room key. The hotel is an 11 minute walk from the train station. We arrived on a Saturday around 6pm and the surrounding places are all closed up and deserted. We managed to find Restoran Lou Won open for dinner. If you are the backpacker or hostels kind of person, this place will be alright for you, but it is not for me. I don’t know if I will even be back to Ipoh again. It is a quaint town and slightly cleaner than Penang. Edit: we did not want to stay the second night and so we left Ipoh altogether. The owner gave a 50% refund for the second night.

We stayed only a few hours because we checked in at 11:45pm & checked out the next day at 12 noon. We stayed in a double deluxe room No. 5. The room has a high ceiling, so you can see they didn't clean the dust on the lights & air vents. This room has no view, so natural air circulation/light is created through an opening on the roof. It also acted as a fire safety & 'morning alarm'. The bathroom is clean. No tissue roll in our room. I like the smell of the shower gel & the shampoo. The mattress is comfortable. 3 spaces of private car parks are available in front of the hotel. So you don't have to pay a parking ticket. Walkable to a few old town Ipoh attractions, shops & restaurants are abundant.

Stayed from 22-24 April. Booked 3 different rooms thru Agoda website. As we were travelling by train, we chosen this hotel as its location is about 10 mins walk (700m) from KTM train station and very closed to the famous Concubine Lane. Rooms are exactly shown in Agoda photos. ||Room 103 - Family room - spacious, bunk bed, attached bathroom, clean, window view on back alley, BUT never ever open the window or an army of mosquito will attack your room!||Room 105 - Deluxe double - tiny, queen size bed, attached bathroom, clean, NO window.||Room 110 - Premium double room city view - spacious, queen size bed, attached bathroom, clean, big window view on front main road.||Sadly NO minibar/fridge provided in the rooms.||Credit to the staff, the only Chinese lady we saw working on our stay. She is the reception, she is the housekeeping, and she is A to Z. We can't praise her enough, she did a brilliant job.||Overall we are satisfied with our stay at Ban...
