Lumina at Cardinal San José del Cabo — Attraction in Baja California Sur

Writing this review while I am still here… The apartment is BEAUTIFUL the pool as well the view is amazing, Not so amazing the night we arrived I got a message saying that the previous guest that had stayed in our room had broken one of the legs of the bed and they had to come fix it, we set up a time and they never came and I never heard from them about the bed again. There was hair in the shower drain, the hair was blonde and my hair in dark brown so no way it could’ve been mine it looks like it has been sitting there for such a long time too 🤢. Now the coffee pot has not been washed it in fact was still half way full with water… the day we arrived the bed had hair and stains on it my boyfriend told me to text them about it but I was so tired from 12+ hours of traveling I just wanted to lay down for a little so I didn’t say anything, a couple of days into our trip I asked if we could get some clean towels and sheets and was told there was a $45 USD charge but that they could get us new towels at no charge this time which seemed fine to me so I asked for the towels when I went to go use the “clean” towels one of them had yellow stains and a hair (not from the head hair) on it. When I took pictures of everything and sent them to host they read the message 2 hours after I sent it but didn’t respond until 13 hours later. When they did eventually respond all they did was apologize for the inconvenience and that they would let housekeeping and management know. All the photos I took are attached

**Update they gave us a complimentary cleaning after that the apartment was spotless but it should’ve been that way to begin with. The general manager Lily reached out to me and asked what could be done to make it up to us but it was the last night we were staying there so I said there was nothing that could be done, she said she would look over our reservation and see if there was some type of compensation she could get us then gave us a 15% discount on our next stay, I will not be staying there again. We had a great time in San Jose del Cabo! Making reservations through the Lumina website was easy and email communications pre-trip were timely. Instructions were clear and Lumina team was available to assist upon our arrival if needed (via Whatsapp). Accommodations at Lumina Cardinal Living in San Jose was the perfect location for our one-week San Jose del Cabo trip- walking distance to so many restaurants, shopping, the Thursday Art Walk, and even pickleball (11 minutes walk). It's only a 25 minute drive from the Los Cabos airport and close enough to also drive to San Lucas for the day. It was a 10 minute drive to the local supermarket, Soriana. But if you want to go a more local neighborhood market you can walk for 10 minutes (prob best to have pesos on hand). The apartment was very super clean! The only major issue we had was trouble modulating the water temperature for the shower so we had daily cool showers with about 1 minute of very hot water and similar issue with the sink faucets (and in another Lumina apartment). I hadn't read about this issue on other reviews so not sure what we were doing wrong. This was reported to Lumina. We cooked two meals which worked out well. Basic supplies such as salt/pepper, plastic wrap, and foil not available. Cooking utensils, pans, pot, and basic dinnerware/glassware/mugs worked out very well. It was great to be able to wash our clothes using the stacked washer/dryer (we brought our own detergent pods). Beach towels were a nice touch. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. AC worked well. The rooftop pool was beautiful (great views) but too cold for us to enjoy and probably perfect for summer temps. It was great to have a designated parking spot on site. Sounded good in theory but the apartment (#303) had many flaws. Pros: great location, secure building, secure parking, great rooftop views (see attached sunset photo), easy online booking, good A/C, quiet area, the kitchen had plenty of equipment. Cons: There were lots of problems in the apartment. The door to the toilet was too big for the frame and therefore could not close. The curtains/blinds only cover 3/4 of the wall of windows, so we were exposed at night. The street light shining in was very bright through this gap (see attached photo). And the glass shower faces this window. Then, water from showering leaked all around the outside of the shower stall, into the hall and bedroom, so we had to sacrifice towels to dam around the shower. The lights that circle around the entire apartment ceiling didn't turn all the way off, they only dimmed to a low setting. The came and looked at it, and said they'd come fix it at 10 AM the next day but they didn't show up or contact us. The kitchen drawers and cabinets don't like to stay closed, they frustratingly pop back open. The coffee machine was very dirty so I did not use it. The floor was SO dirty it turned my feet black (it's a gray laminate floor that makes it hard to see the dirt). The dishwasher had a very distinct, nasty, fish smell.
