Punta Cancun Lighthouse, a charming red and white beacon perched at the northeastern tip of Cancun's Hotel Zone, is a must-visit for anyone seeking breathtaking views and a touch of tranquility amidst the bustling resort town.
While the lighthouse itself may not be grand in scale, its location is simply stunning. Situated on a rocky outcrop where the Caribbean Sea meets the Nichupté Lagoon, it offers panoramic vistas of turquoise waters, pristine beaches, and the sprawling cityscape. The contrast between the vibrant blue sea and the iconic red and white stripes of the lighthouse makes for picture-perfect moments, especially during sunrise and sunset.
Getting to the lighthouse requires a short walk along the beach from Playa Caracol. The path can be a bit rocky, so wearing comfortable footwear is recommended. The walk itself is a pleasant experience, with opportunities to spot local wildlife and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze.
Although the lighthouse interior is not open to the public, the surrounding area provides ample opportunities for relaxation and exploration. Many visitors enjoy simply sitting on the rocks, soaking in the views, and listening to the soothing sound of the waves. The area is also popular for photography, with both amateur and professional photographers capturing the lighthouse's beauty from various angles.
Overall, Punta Cancun Lighthouse is a hidden gem that offers a welcome escape from the crowds and a chance to appreciate the natural beauty of Cancun. Whether you're a photography enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply seeking a peaceful spot to unwind, a visit to this iconic landmark is well...

To get to lighthouse, one must find entry to the beach through the public route, typically at Playa Caracol at the Almadia Cancun Bar and then walk along the beach. As you walk down toward the lighthouse, you must pass narrow walkway in front of a jet ski rental area. Then, you come upon a shallow, rocky area just before the lighthouse. Walk through the water and then up to the lighthouse. There may be a better way, but I was turned away by security. Only one couple there when I arrived, they were taking pictures and...

Getting there is not hard, but is not particularly straightforward. You start at Playa Caracol and immediately have to step up a couple of rocks (there are “beach access” signs pointing to the left, just follow them). Then you have to walk along the water, sometimes going up and down the stairs; if confused, just ask someone, point at the lighthouse and they will tell you where to go next. The last 500m you will have to go through the Hyatt, the employees might try to stop you in the beginning, but just point at the lighthouse, say “faro”, and they...
