The Moongate at Hyatt Ziva is a great place for a dinner show and delicious desserts.
We made a dinner reservation for the hibachi performance and were not disappointed. When we arrived, we were quickly served to our table and our waiters were very friendly. Our chef, Antonio, put on an impressive performance, tossing knives and spatulas around before he lit up the grill with fire. He then cooked our fried rice in front of us while we were served miso soup and small sushi bites. I have a seafood allergy, and the chef was sure not to cross-contaminate, cooking my meat first before the others. The miso soup was a lovely starter. It was not too salty (which is often the main problem for most miso soups. The sushi bites were not spectacular (granted, mine were vegetarian.) As for the main course, my fried rice was tasty, but greasier than I would have liked. The grilled chicken and steak, on the other hand, were delicious. The grilled veggies on the side were also very flavorful. The dessert. This is what earned The Moongate its 4 stars. We ordered the lava cake and matcha cheesecake and I still dream about the lava cake. This dessert tasted as amazing as it looked. I could taste that they used Mexican chocolate for the cake because it was unlike any other lava cake I've had. The ice cream on top was so creamy, light, and paired perfectly with the rich cake. The matcha cheesecake was a completely different kind of mouthwatering dessert. It was paired with granny smith apples on the side to cut the creaminess. The matcha was subtle but the cheesecake overall was phenomenal.
Overall, this restaurant has good service, a great hibachi performance, above average meat, and unforgettable desserts. If it were not for the full experience of the hibachi performance, the beautiful interior of the restaurant, the friendly service, and those fantastic desserts, The Moongate may have just earned 3...
Read moreReview is for the Asian cuisine menu at the table: Service is impeccable by Jose, food was not made How it was Described on the menu. The salmon kiro didn't Have any mint or ikura, couldn't taste any sweet miso, it was really just salmon and Daikon, some pieces didn't have the daikon.
Spicy tuna roll wasn't Spicy at all. Luckily they had a jalapeno/Serrano Marinated chilies and it went great with it. (Something I asked for)
Serranito was disappointing, it was really warm and lacked care in plating and quality of the slices.
Pork belly buns was slightly soggy on the bottoms, pork belly was really thin. Otherwise good flavor.
Ramen was good for the kids. Broth needs more flavor depth, tasted slightly watered down. But ingredients were pretty good. Decent dish if you need a hangover cure here. The meat Sliced in it looked like ham.
Miso wings (2pc) were good. Over fried so they were hard and difficult to chew. Flavor tasted more like teriyaki glaze. Would be good for kids and served with rice since they're super flavorful
Tuna tartare was very sad. It was made with rice and It didn't list rice. It was also drenched in sweet chili sauce(the same people use for fried egg rolls) like really drenched. I couldn't eat it. Ask for it without the sauce. Soy, lime, and Wasabi would be fine with it. Maybe some sesame oil.
Miso soup was really good. I enjoyed that.
I have their hibachi grill this Friday so I'm going to...
(English) Our restaurant reservation was set at 5 o'clock, so our family arrived at right time with the dress code properly. There were other 3 groups reservated and sat all together in long Hibachi table. When chefs prepared the cook, however, there were only three chefs even 4 groups of customer there. Our both side of groups were white. Food serving started, but none of chefs were in front of us, and nobody informed us who was our chef. It seemed that two of our family members were taken care of right one and the other two were left chef. Both of chef put on a show dedicated to white groups each side of us, and we were completely ignored. Of course, they served us food, but I felt completely bad. I felt exactly RACISM in Cancun, Mexico. We paid for the same trip package like others, and we gave tips even if we had a bottle of water at the hotel. I don't know if it was because other Asians didn't give tips enough to them, but it was a really disrespectful experience. We stay here for 5 days, but it will be hard to try this Hibachi at Moongate more than once because it should be made reservation. The quality of food is not good among the Hibachi I have eaten so far. In particular, you will figure it out the level of this place as soon as you receive the 3 pieces of sushi. I would rather have dinner at...
