Beautiful, clear, cool blue fresh water with myriads of fish at every turn, and lots of little areas and secluded spots to explore and paddle around in, areas that are shallow, and choppy blocky submerged rocky areas that drop off suddenly to reveal surprising depths, dark cave-ish areas, secret swimmable passageways. Lots of wildlife (birds, iguanas), flitting dragonflies. Well-manicured pathways (should you choose to walk around), small bridges over swimmable rocky canals between areas, a platform you can jump off of - we were surprised by the variety of things to see, small fish to interact with (they love to nibble at you if you stay still long enough). A good way to start the day, reasonably priced admission ($180mx), swim around for a couple of three hours, then continue with your day - we arrived at opening (to avoid the weekend crowds) and were rewarded with being nearly alone for the first little bit. You will need to shower before heading into the cenotes, and do not put sun screen on prior to getting in the water (thankfully it’s pretty shady generally so sunburn shouldn’t be too much of a concern). Really fun, and a great experience, our first cenote, but we’ll definitely either be back or try another one of the many in the area. The water was really refreshing. There’s a small gift-shop as well, be we didn’t even look - as well there appeared to be some other structures and things to do around the cenote - but again, we just went there to swim - and...

Very much enjoyed our visits to Cenote Azul! It is well set up with showers, change rooms, washrooms, & lockers. A large locker (big enough to hold a backpack) was 80 pesos. Need ID or you need to put down a deposit.

The cenotes are beautiful! Cool and clear. The biggest one has lots of sunny and shaded areas, as well as areas for jumping into the water. Very family friendly with shallow and deep areas, and lifejacket rentals available.

The smaller cenotes are tucked within the jungle and truly feel like a spa experience! They are shaded and tend to be less busy. We often had them to ourselves!

Lots of little fish interested in giving you a spa treatment, but if you don’t like that feeling, you just need to wave your hands and feet a bit and they’ll stay away.

The cafe has phenomenal empanadas! Cheese, beef, and potato options with lots of toppings to choose from. Very reasonably priced at...

Beautiful cenote surrounded by plants. Does cost to get in - make sure you bring cash because they don't accept cards! We had a very fun day here! It closes at 5pm but I'm not sure what time it opens. Does have pretty clear water for snorkeling but besides a bunch of fish, there isn't much to see. You aren't allowed to wear sunscreen or bug repellent as it kills the fish but we didn't get sunburnt at all so it wasn't a problem. There is a small cliff you can walk up and around and jump off which was really fun! There is also a restaurant with tacos, empanadas, ice cream, popsicles, chips and water bottles which were very cheap but delicious! The water is kind of cold but it is refreshing on a hot and humid day! There are a couple of smaller cenotes which we went to. They were pretty similar just more shallow and they were much less busy than the main one. Definitely recommend...

If you don't have a car and don't want to spend too much money it's one of the best options. From Playa Del Carmen, go to Colectivo Tulum station, or if you're in Tulum, go to PDC station. Tell them the name and they only charge 35 pesos till entrance of there. The ticket is 150 peso and if you need a vest it's 40 peso. It was a nice place and we really enjoyed it. Just be careful in colectivo station people try to sell other cenote tickets. They told us for an ugly cenote 350 peso and next person for the same cenote 250 peso. After we said no, they told us for going to cenote Azul, we should walk 2km after dropping off, but it's not real, and we walked only 5 steps to go inside there.
