I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kai Tulum and let me tell you, it was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for something special. First off, let me highly recommend splurging for the oceanview room - it's worth every penny! Waking up to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the breathtaking view of the turquoise waters was simply magical. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, it was out of this world! Every meal we had at the resort's restaurant was a culinary delight. From fresh seafood to mouthwatering local specialties, every bite was a taste sensation. One thing that really stood out to us was how impeccably clean and well-maintained the resort was, especially compared to neighboring beachfront properties. It's clear that the staff take great pride in their work, and it definitely shows. Speaking of the staff, I can't say enough good things about them. Not only were they incredibly helpful and attentive, but they were also genuinely friendly and welcoming. It really enhanced our overall experience knowing that we were in good hands. Now, I do want to mention something that caught us off guard. On our second day, we encountered individuals claiming to be federal agents in polo shirts and asking for a fee of 60 pesos per person in order to return to our resort. While it's possible that this was a legitimate charge for entry to the national park, we couldn't help but feel like it might have been a scam. Especially considering there were others who were seemingly granted passage. They also did not allow plastic and we were forced to throw away our bottles before proceeding. Just something to be aware of and perhaps clarify with the staff upon arrival. Now, let's talk about the accommodations. Our room was like something out of a luxury travel magazine - a private hut with all the amenities you could ask for, including air conditioning and an outdoor shower (which was a lifesaver for rinsing off sand). Plus, having hammocks right outside our door was the perfect touch. And let's not forget about the welcome drink - a refreshing treat after our journey to the resort. Whether you prefer something alcoholic or a fresh juice, it's a lovely gesture that sets the tone for your stay. Of course, no tropical getaway would be complete without a dip in the pool, and Kai Tulum's pool was a true oasis. After a day of exploring or lounging on the beach, it was the perfect spot to cool off and relax. Now, I will say that the sargassum on the beach was a bit of a nuisance, especially as the tide got higher. However, the resort staff did their best to keep the beach clean, and we always managed to find a way to enjoy the water without too much trouble. Overall, our stay at Kai Tulum was nothing short of perfection. From the stunning oceanview room to the delectable food to the impeccable service, it's easily the best resort experience we've ever had. We can't wait to return!

The hotel was misleading... I wanted a refund and to leave immediately once I arrived. The manager was not very friendly also, the beach is full of boats which makes it unsafe to swim (misleading photos), the room has cracks on the floor all over, so mosquitos are in the room and I am allergic to mosquito and flea bites (somehow I also got flea bites despite not going to the beach so couldn’t have been sand flea bites- must have come from the room). It cost $40 per way to get to the hotels and restaurants on the strip because the shorter road is currently closed- so, want a decent dinner? Pay $80 just to get there and back. You also have to pay per person just to get to the hotel bc it’s in a national park which was also not disclosed clearly. The front desk manager said the cleaning people didn’t want to come clean the room anyway in the rudest way just because I simply asked them to stop politely when I saw they were randomly in the room. Then I told the front desk I wanted to have a heads up before someone is going in the room since there are no signs or anything I can put on the door for do not disturb. The fridge didn’t work and the Ac didn’t work. I spent one night and left despite having paid almost 1k. I only stayed bc I was told to wait and talk to the manager the next day at noon bc they could probably give me back at least half of what I paid so we could leave. She was rude and didn’t budge or feel empathy- she said if I wanted to go pack my things she’d send someone to help grab my things and send me off. Very bad experience. Save your money and stay somewhere way nicer on the strip for less… they are very over priced. It’s also a public and full beach of random people and boats. It’s not relaxing or peaceful and the restaurant doesn’t understand gluten free very well and is not very good. Our server the first night was slow and didn’t pay attention and in the morning the other server was very nice but slow- very slow. I literally had to leave and come back to pay bc was running late for a work call and it took him thirty mins to get the check to me. You can get so much better for the money! Save yourself a headache!

Kai is a amazing location, the bungalows are beautiful and really comfortable, amazing place to just chill and relax... restaurant and staff are amazing but a little pricey if you’re looking sit and drink the day away... but the quality of the food and service are great.. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.. Love this place and the staff thanks kai Few things to note though is to plan ahead - kai offers little information on their full services. Will a little more info on booking or on their website you can quite easy plan for issues listed below.. - Kai has no reception desk (you have to go through the reception in the neighbouring hotel) no phones in room so you must walk across in office hours. Anything outside of office hours will need to go the following day So their own reception or direct phone line to their current reception would be a great addition - it’s a eco friendly resort so they try to limit their footprint. Which we thought was great . But while there is air con and hot water in rooms.. there is no fridge, hairdryer, iron or tv (no tv is a great idea) There is no information anywhere stating this on booking, checking in or their website. If there was we could of pre -planned better (cooler with ice to have cold drinks in room and a hair dryer for the fancy nights out) - Restaurant has no real official opening time just whenever the staff have finished setting up and it closes at 6pm.. and there is no where else to grab a quick cold drink or late night snack Best to get yourself a few essentials from the supermarket on the way in So kai if you read this please just provide a little more info on services provided beforehand so we can plan ahead and maybe just a small bar in the rooms to store a couple of cool drinks and snacks..

My wife and i discovered Kai on our first trip to Tulum in Jan 2020. We love it here as it's more mellow and not a party beach club. This is our third trip to Tulum and we always come here for our beach days, which is pretty much almost every day lol. We've introduced this place to several other friends of ours over the years and they've all loved it here too. We don't understand the negative reviews about service as we've had nothing but great service every time. The 15% service fee that's included in the bill is for the entire staff. If you want to tip on top of that, it's not mandatory but optional, and that goes directly to your server. We don't have an issue with that because we feel we're getting excellent service and we've come to know some of the staff that have been here over the years and we really appreciate their friendliness and kindness. Special shot out to Juan (manager) who is always so nice and accommodating, servers Jose, Angel, and Freddy who wait on us and take such good care of us, and Jose Manuel (security) for watching over us and our stuff. Service is great, they're super friendly and nice. Food is great too if you stick to seafood. We especially love the grilled octopus and smoked marlin tacos! We finally had the opportunity to stay in one of the bungalows for a few nights here and absolutely loved it. Very comfortable bed, super clean, nice little porch to hang out on when you want some seclusion and privacy. Getting ready to head over now for another awesome beach day!

We ate here twice, for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is right on the beach with sand and wooden floor area, (for dinner -staff decorates tables with bottled lights and that looks very elegant). They have charcoal grill that is attractive. But three dishes of five we tried here were very average or below, only octopus (no photo- just bill) and impepata di cozze e vongole(don’t remember Spanish name for it😬)- were tasty. The other three- grilled veggies plate( the veggies were ok, but most part comprised puréed white potatoes as a pillow and could have been with butter/cream as I am milk sugar/milk protein intolerant, I suffered from it later😬though asked the waiter about any diary ingredients in advance), sweet potatoes came out undercooked and when I asked to replace it the waiter just ignored😔 The worst was with my husband lunch choice- battered fish burrito(?) on photo and some other Mexican lunch dish option with fish- untasty and huge. We asked the waiter after ordering only burrito if it’s enough- he just answered, if that’s was all we want to order, so we added one more dish and could never finish, as it was tooooo much😳🤯 they add tips, so they want to make you order as much as possible🤯 but the most important thing is that the food was untasty and we even didn’t think of taking it away. The service was disappointing😔 Prices are as everywhere on the beach area and suggested tips are 15%(though for our lunch we payed only 5% but shouldn’t have paid at all)🤦🏻♀️

Our experience at Kai was amazing! The hotel is located inside of the national park and it is just a few steps away from the Tulum Ruins. The service from the entire staff was great and very warm. The day before our arrival they contacted us to accommodate transportation. Once there, they gave us a great welcome with a complementary drink. Our room was incredible a few steps from the beach and you could hear the sound of the ocean at night! Each morning the restaurant staff brought complementary coffee or tea with cookies to our room (a very nice way to start your day). The restaurant service was amazing, they are working hard to make improvements to their menus especially dinner to include a true Mexican dinner experience. The chef Hector came to our table and explained each dish and honestly it was delicious. The hotel is making improvements to their beach club upgrading beach chairs and tents/cabanas which look great and are super comfortable to spend the entire day on. The pool was also great and refreshing. Overall I highly recommend this hotel to any person that wants to have a relaxing experience at Tulum. Many thanks to Mr. Juan and his entire staff for this incredible experience.
