When I arrived at this place there was this man (which I tought was a homeless person) sleeping in a bed at the entrance but later came to know he was a staff member or the owner i dont know! Anyway entrance fee cost you about 25 dirham. I got no paper ticket and I payed that man who mind you was still laying on his bed!
As soon as i got in the main area I noticed a dog (barking) that was caged all stuck with its own feces! The dog looked ok, however it was sad to see. After a few minutes that same man told me to leave because according to him I was there way to long and he shouted that it should take me 10 minutes (I was there not even 20 min) to visit the whole entire museum which was really weird and scary at the same time.
I have never experienced this before and he kept looking at me for at least 5 min prior to this with an angry face. He told me to leave and I didn’t even get to see the whole museum basically, eventually I left as he insisted and because I was the only visitor at that moment, it made me feel very unsafe!
I don’t recommed this place at all half of it was litterally rubble...
Read moreVery good experience if you can read French or know the back story. (Paid 25 for one person) I heard that the owner grew up here when it was still in its glory days but unfortunately the family had to sell their possessions leaving the palace now for only time to take its toll. He still lives here not wanting to abandon the place. He is also a great artist! His art is on display, very wonderful. Some rooms are restored in good shape but the rest is unfortunately not. But it’s very interesting to see, the kitchen and bathroom and inner courtyard through the window. There is also a very friendly dog in the palace however he is stuck in what used to be the fountain, it’s a bit sad to see but it seemed like on that day someone tried to feed it some pastries. I wish I had brought something...
Read moreIn the center of this old palace was a german shepherd dog locked up at 41°C. His area is directly in the sun, except for a really small part with some shadow, but it was so small that he has to stand to be in the shadow - he can‘t even lie down. His small doghouse is also in the blazing sun which makes it useless during the day and his water bucket was more algae or moss than water. The excrement of the dog is not made away, which is why his "cage" is half full of it. Even though I know this dog might be used for protection at night, these are undignified conditions and in my opinion animal cruelty. The palace was the most run down of all we have seen in Morocco. Unfortunately, I can only advise against a visit, unless someone wants to help this...
