There are times you should ignore what guide books or Netflix series tell you. I felt like telling anyone who hasn't yet ordered, to just leave. I truly don't like having bad food when I've limited meals in a city or town.
Don't get me wrong. The place is gorgeous and serves alcohol! The (white) wine was really great. And maybe the other things on the menu might have been better but come on, you can't get Tajine wrong in Morocco!
But the food was a big let down. The Chicken Tajine was dry, the chicken had no seasoning or flavor, and the cous cous was meh. This was my second night in Fes so I had already had probably the best Chicken Tajine already the previous night (Ouliya for the curious). I have added so much salt and spices to it yet it still is not great.
The service was also pretty lacking. I had been here at around 5pm and told that I don't need to make a reservation. Then at 7:45, I walk in and am given a table inside and not where I would have preferred (apparently because there's a reservation at 8pm). It's empty till 8:30 when they finally give it to a random couple who just walked in.
You can see the dry and tasteless chicken and the empty table...
Read moreExcellent atmosphere and decent food, but poorly run kitchen. They offer a limited menu choosing from three appetizers, three mains, and three desserts, but they ran out of one of the appetizers and one of the desserts early in the night.
More of an issue is how slow and poor the service was. Despite having a reservation and the limited menu, it still took over an hour and a half for our main dish to arrive. And when a neighboring table complained about the time for their food, the server tried gaslighting them into saying it was their fault since the waiter thought they said they had another party member coming.
Food is good and reasonably priced, but it's hard to recommend this restaurant over other...
Read moreThe place is truly beautiful and the food is tasty, but our experience was soured by an unjustified charge. We ordered virgin mojitos and were charged for the alcoholic version. The waiter confirmed our order three times. When we received the drinks, we didn't taste any alcohol, so we didn't complain. However, when the bill arrived, we were charged for the alcoholic drinks. We pointed out the mistake and were met with over 15 minutes of discussion, arrogance, and cynicism from one of the staff members, accusing us of lying about our order. We ended up paying almost 100€, which is quite a lot for a meal in Morocco. An experience that started magnificently ended in a...
