Shechen Monastery, one the six main Nyingma monasteries of Tibet, was destroyed in the late 1950’s. In exile, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche transplanted the rich tradition of the original Shechen Monastery to a new home — a magnificent monastery near the great Stupa of Bodhnath, Nepal. It was his wish that this monastery would maintain the philosophical, contemplative, and artistic traditions of the mother monastery. Read moreI had stayed for a week at the Shechen Guesthouse during my recent trip to Kathmandu. The room was clean and neat. With large windows, it is delightful to see the room filled with natural light. The restaurant overseeing the garden with well kept lawn is delightful to enjoy breakfast in the morning. For those who need frequent access to WiFi, please take note that its range is rather limited to area close to the reception desk. Read moreIt was indeed humbly to have visited the monastry. We donated 80sets of toothpaste,brush and face towel to the monks. Head monk thanked us and even took down our contact so that they could take photo of the distribution of item during aupisicious date. We were brought around to see the huge and magnificent statues and even have a chance to see the kudung of dilgo khyentse rinpoche. Got some blessed prayer pills from ever compassionate monk there.
