I visited Himalayan Java on 11 may 2025, hoping to see improvements in service and beverage quality. This was my fifth visit, and unfortunately, many of the previous issues still persist.
Upon entering, there was no proper welcome just a casual āNamasteā from a distance. The ambience was decent and clean. As the window area was taken, we took the seat next to it, and the service throughout remained disengaged and minimal.
I ordered a French press, and my brother had an iced Americano. Disappointingly, the barista didnāt ask for my roast preference for the French Press or even explain the bean options. When I asked for bakery items, I was directed to the pastry case without any recommendations or a menu, which felt lazy and impersonal.
Worse, the chocolate truffle I ordered arrived before the coffee, ruining the pairing. The Americano was served silently without even announcing what it was or whom it was for.
The real letdown was my French press, it was served in a V60 server, which is not only incorrect but misrepresents the drink. When I questioned this, the barista casually said thatās their āstandard.ā No apology, no explanation, and apparently only one light roast option is available, which felt limiting and forced.
I had to request a replacement and chose a cold brew instead, which was visually appealing and tasted great bright, citrusy, and well bodied. My friend, who joined us later, enjoyed his pineapple juice and sandwich, and another friend ordered a double shot Americano.
The only redeeming parts of this visit were the cold brew and our own company. Service lacked warmth, personality, and any genuine hospitality. As a farewell, there was no effort to engage, apologize, or recover from the initial missteps. For a brand as reputable as Himalayan Java, this level of service is unacceptable.
My suggestion: Being a big name with a nice setting isnāt enough, customer care, attention to detail, and service standards need serious improvement. I genuinely suggest, As the pioneering coffee house brand in Nepal, Himalayan Java has set the standard in introducing cafĆ© culture to the country. To continue leading the market and deepening customer loyalty, I would like to suggest placing even greater emphasis on customer-focused service. Enhancing personalized experiences, improving staff engagement, and ensuring consistent service quality across locations, it will not only strengthen the brandās reputation but also elevate the overall...

I had high hopes for this cafĆ©, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment and served me a dead plate on my table. I ordered 2 cup of cappuccino and a serve of egg Benny. Coffee was okey. However the egg Benedict was the worst. Poached egg wasnāt poached actually, it looked like it was 12 hour slow cooked flat roast meat. I donāt normally complain food. Anyway I have to be honest here as I never had such bad experience anywhere. Letās move onto the Service. When the waiter took my order, I clearly said we will try one serve of egg Benedict and if we like we will ask for another serve. He sent us 2 serve. I thought he was misunderstood and asked him to take back. A girl and a boy said, they canāt itās been ordered. I politely asked them to offer anyone and I even said I will pay for the plate. They seemed lost there. I again asked them to offer anyone in the kitchen and again I said I will pay. I just didnāt want to waste the food though the food looked bad and the taste even worst. They were lost there again. They were scared with the chefs and the person at the counter. I understood they really didnāt have a team work. The waiter and waitress should be playing a great role and make the back of house and FOH staff more interactive and friendly. Needs Team work, good customer service. I paid the amount without any complain and left the place quietly. However the space and table arrangements was great. I liked the place but the food and the customer service missed the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGenerally speaking, I have had good experiences and excellent coffee at Himalayan Java locations, until now. Firstly, I will say that the highest and foremost priority of a coffee house would be to have excellent, and expertly brewed coffee, and that is not the case with this location. My doppio was the smallest I have ever had in any country I have ever visited, and contrary to other Himalayan Java locations, it was intensely bitter and acidic, which tells me that they are getting cheaper, older beans than other locations. The rubbish pop music was so loud that one could not have a conversation, and furthermore, it was highly inappropriate at such a holy location as boudhanath stupa. The staff at the counter refused to brew my french press beyond 3 minutes. Any coffee lover knows that for premium beans, that 10 minutes is the real brew time for an excellent cup of french press coffee. Also, the excuse was that they only have one french press, which is ludicrous for a coffee house of this size. A french press should be delivered to the customer intact, that one may press the coffee themselves at a time deemed appropriate for their particular taste. Thus, just get a few more french presses. The bean quality at this location was deplorable, so there is no reason to go here at all if you actually desire a coffee. on terms of food, this is an...
