Cockroach nightmare.
I was happy to find this place cause at first sight it looked decent. They promised me to have a hot water, clean sheets, clean room, gas and everything I need. Even furniture is very old and all kitchen stuff is pretty dirty, I didn’t mind those things.
My horror story started when I arrived at the place to check in at very late evening. When I entered a room I ve seen something was moving at the kitchen table. I saw a huge cockroach, and I was ok about it cause sometimes to see one or two is not a big deal. Then I took a light and decided to check kitchen set from inside. I swear I ve never seen something like that in my life and I was scared. It was not one or two or few it was hundreds of cockroaches everywhere I looked. They started running around. I am a girl and I can’t stand such a dirty disgusting places. I screamed and asked to change a room but they didn’t have similar rooms and one they offered me was exactly same - everywhere cockroaches.
I asked to provide for me insect spray or any help but didn’t get anything from them. It was about 9.30 pm when I left at night to look for a spray to come back at this terrifying room. I found and did came back and sprayed everywhere. I used all huge spray for one room. Cockroaches ve been running on all floor it was hard to walk and I just cried because I didn’t have place to go. I killed all of them I could find cause I took a broom for this. To clean room took for me 3 hours. Then I asked to change bed sheets cause they were dirty but they said in hotel that they don’t have!!! Clean sheets!
I decided that it’s night and I am exhausted and I need shower and sleep and in the morning I go to change a hotel. And you know what? Of course they didn’t had hot shower and just said that yes, it’s like this. Stuff was rude, they didn’t care at all about me. I felt terrible and angry and as soon as sunrise came I left place and I didn’t pay for this night. You, dear stuff, were the worst! I am travelling for 12 years and it’s first time in my life I lived this! This hotel must be closed or checked by sanitary inspection. You made this night one of the...
Read moreThis Tibetan run hotel is quite new, therefore on the whole clean and pleasant. The owner spoke no English and could be a bit surly, but the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms I saw were comfortable and spacious and it was a nice surprise to find tea-making facilities ( kettle and mugs. . . . you have to buy your own tea, sugar etc). A little bizarre was the fact that for tall Europeans, it was possible to see into the next room's bathroom from one's own bathroom, through a shared window!!! The staff were not convinced that this was the case when it was mentioned to them and were very surprised when they came and saw it for themselves!!! The offending windows were soon covered with sheets of card. There is no breakfast room, but there is a handy little restaurant next door with great food and service where you can sit inside or in the garden. I seem to remember that in 2013, a double room...
Read moreThe new management at the Dungkar has added to the charm of this nicely located Guest House just a minute from the Boudha Stupa. Wifi has been upgraded, there is a pretty new restaurant, staff has been replaced and they honor reservations! They even answer the phone and emails!||Clean and cheerful - a great combination. Norbu has added a nice reception area, and is ready to improve the place. I was last here in December, 2017, just as Norbu took over, then back in February, 2018, and back again in April, 2018. His improvements are marked and I can only guess that they will get better. ||I have a room that shares a bathroom, and they always have kept it clean. ||There is a 'new' Dungkar as well, and I think it may be under the old management. So don't be confused by the two. This Dungkar is literally a minute from the...
