Overall, the experience at Bird Thai was very nice. It is the best thai restaurant I have been to in Netherlands since living in Bangkok for half a year. I went on Wednesday Oct 4th at 5pm.
Food- 5 stars. The food was excellent. The appetizer was a nice shrimp satay which could have benefited from one extra stick of meat. I ordered the pad krapow moo and my companion ordered a panang curry. Her's we ordered spicy and mine we relied on the fish oil with peppers to make hot. Worked well. The curry was phenomenal but I was most impressed by the krapow. The meat was minced!! I have not seen this in a western thai restaurant ever and it really stood out to me as a sign of Bird being less westernized than other restaurants. On top of this the portions were huge which made up for the small appetizer. Lastly, the Chai Yen (milk tea) was homemade and really reminded me of the street chai yen I would eat along with my pad krapow moo back in Bangkok.
Service- 3.8 stars. The service was alright but there was definitely room to improve. At times it was hard to get anyone's attention because I assume they were busy in other areas of the restaurant. On top of that when we were given our bill they neglected to tell us beforehand that paying with pin would be done not from our table but at the waiters stand. We were left sitting at our table waiting and wondering why no one was taking our bill so we could leave. On top of that I ordered my Chai yen (milk tea) mid meal and asked for it to be sent out with my main meal so the ice wouldnt melt and water it down before I would drink it to help with my spicy meal. It arrived early but not too badly. Overall, the service was professional, courteous, and given with a smile most of the time.
Environment- 4.0 stars. The interior is really lovely. We arrived and there was no line with some tables still free. We were placed in a two person table but the thing was tiny. Those tables are not tall people friendly! The table stand was thick and in the way of placing my feet comfortably on the ground. On top of that I couldn't scoot my chair back because it was spaced right behind another table where someone was eating. After two minutes I couldnt take it and asked to move to a larger table next to my existing one. They were very accommodating and the table was next...

Goodmorning! Here is my review about Bird Thai Restaurant. The line in front of the spot is really long so that means something special. They only do walk-ins. Since the line looks like it would take ages to get inside, it only took 10-15min to get inside. While we were inside they gave us a wonderful spot in the center.
Food: We have ordered a Tom Kha Kai soup, a Thai green curry with meat, seafood and the last one was the fried dorade with spicy mango salad. Especially the tom kha kai and the fish were wonderful. The green curry was pretty nice when served hot, but when it is starting to cool down then the MSG is coming up to the front. Which is a taste, but I didn’t liked the amount.
Service: The service was alright! Lots of waiters walking through eachother but they’re always standing there when you need them. Some small mistakes like a Coca-Cola zero instead of regular and some lemon missing. But alright, the bottle was blue and it has been a while since I’ve seeing that! The last thing for me was the rice. We had a really small bowl of rice with the curry. It is literally enough for 1 person and eventhough we are both compact builded but still.. it is not so much. So we asked if there was missing a rice then it came. But it was €3 that we saw later on the receipt. I think that can be better but perhaps it is their way of serving. Informing us would be better!
Atmosphere: It is a nice cosy restaurant and always fully packed! The toilets are not that clean but it is crowed so I think there is no time to clean it. The doors to explain if it’s a male or female toilet is quite stunning! It is a nice place to eat.
Conclusion: The interior is making your comfortable eating here, the staff is hardworking, the service is precarious and the price can be high. So if we look at price-quality then it could be better, but since it is tourist orientated I think it might...
Read moreVisiting here left a sour taste in my mouth, and that's not just because the food was dreadful.
When we sat at the table, we asked for 2 glasses of iced water. What did we receive? Boiling hot kettle water in a glass. The server nearly spilt it on my shoulder, bringing it to us. He was so quick to run away after I noticed the steam coming off them that I couldn't call him back.
When a female waitress arrived, we mentioned to her that we asked for cold water, not hot water, and she said that was fine. A few minutes later, she handed us one glass of water. I had to stop her before she could get away and said sorry no can we have two waters, not one. I don't really understand what the issue was with this, as a few moments later she slammed down a glass of water that wasn't even a quatre full and ran away. I was so dumbfounded by this, even the table next to us were looking out of confusion.
When the food arrived I was greatly disappointed, the fish cakes, ribs, chicken and anything else on the starters was so heavily covered in peanut buter that it felt like I was eating the most disgusting Reeces cup. The pad Thai wasn't much better as it was just really sour. The quality was also just as bad, I've never seen such processed fish cakes in my life, not even in the value section of a supermarket. It was like rubber.
I wanted to leave petty quickly but not before having to argue with the waiter about them trying to charge us 3 euros for the kettle water that we didn't ask for, nor did we touch. He got so rude about it, to the point he snatched away the awful looking mints that he handed us and again ran away.
Probably one of the worst meal experiences I've ever had, extremely disappointing. Quality and taste are definitely not something heard of here.
I've also attached a photo of the water...
