Monument to Jewish Resistance — Attraction in Amsterdam

The Monument of Jewish Resistance (Monument vor Joods verzet) is situated at the corner of Amstel and Zwanenburgwal in the city centre. It serves as a memory of the Jewish members of the resistance who lost their lives during WWII.

This is the work of Belgian sculptor Josef Glatt (1988) and is in the manner of traditional Jewish tombstones. It is a metre tall granite column which includes both Hebrew and Dutch engravings.

The text on the front side translates as "In remembrance of the resistance of Jewish citizens fallen in 1940-1945. 5700-5705".
