The Hoofdtoren — Attraction in Hoorn

During our holiday in the Netherlands we visited De Hoofdtoren in Hoorn. We chose this restaurant because of its location. The restaurant is located nearby some small canals in the city center of Hoorn. The building is an old toll house with much history. When we visited De Hoofdtoren the weather was good and many people were eating and drinking outside.

I can advise you to reserve a table when you want to eat here. This is because they don’t have that many tables. The menu was good and they also have a good cocktail menu. My wife and I chose not to eat here because it was still too early. We ordered some tapas with fresh calamari. These were great. We also ordered some cocktails which were good. The other tapas dishes were also good.

I gave the restaurant 5 stars because of the location and the good tapas. The cocktails are also good and the prices...

For visitors of Hoorn: did you know that there is a cosy authentic restaurant with spaces on multiple floors? And you can enjoy some hot pannenkoeken (large thin pancakes, similar to eastern Europe “blini”) on the top floor with the view on the harbor and the ships? Or a fancy dinner in the evening, with candlelight and some good music? Hint for a lunch: get 1 pannenkoek with cheese and spek, put 1 original on top, generously apply sugar sauce and prepare for a Michelin-star kind...

In this amazing historical building at the harbour of this historical town Hoorn are 2 restaurants located: downstairs a bar and upstairs a proper restaurant. We made a reservation for upstairs: what a gorgeous place!
