Bontekoe Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Hoorn

The harbour is beautiful especially with the nice weather that day walking to this restaurant. For the food I can say nothing I had was special more average but I think it depends strongly on what you choose from the menu. We had onion and pomodoro soup as a starter which were ok. For the main dishes no repeat for us. It looks good but the taste can be better. That day we heard it was way to chaotic with too many customers to handle, probably because of the sudden heatwave everybody went for a nice drink or diner outside. The staff was super friendly but they need more experience handling such a crowd. I immediately made the comparison with Fawlty Towers a hilarious serie from the past about a hotel. It's on YouTube. Vreemd ontvangen. We hadden gereserveerd via de WF-deal en dit was niet doorgekomen, gelukkig was er nog wel een tafeltje vrij.

Toen we zaten hadden we vooraf een broodje, dit was prima. Daarna hadden we beide de carpaccio, ook wel lekker, maar geen topkwaliteit.

Als hoofdgerecht had ik de ossenhaas medaillons, waar je 3,50€ extra voor moest bijbetalen. Dit leek me terecht, omdat dit een duurder gerecht is. Toen de ossenhaas kwam, schrok ik van hoe weinig vlees het was. Ik denk dat het amper 100 gram is geweest. Beetje sneu om mensen daar dan extra voor te laten betalen. De hamburger kan je qua kwaliteit een broodje hamburger verwachten, zoals je hem thuis maakt. Goedkope hamburgerbroodjes, plakjes augurk op de onderkant, matige hamburger, ketchup en om het nog iets te laten lijken gefrituurde uienringen op de bovenkant. Het toetje was niet wat je van een witte chocolade parfait met bastogne zal verwachten: verschillende opgebouwde laagjes, die elkaar afwisselen. Dit was een raar korrelig bolletje ijs met heel veel slagroom er bovenop. Jammer dat de kwaliteit van het eten zo matig is, het is namelijk wel een mooie tent en het personeel is grotendeels...
