Beautiful wide, sandy beach with a large adjacent park. It’s a popular beach for sunning, swimming, family get togethers, and picnics. The park has two parking areas, long paved walkways to stroll along the beach or ride your bike, a large playground, public restrooms and changing rooms with indoor and outdoor showers, plenty of grassy space with shade trees and picnic tables for lounging or relaxing or enjoying a great picnic with your family and friends. There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, ice cream or dessert shops and other places to enjoy along Tamaki Drive behind the park, too. If the parking lots are full on weekends or holidays, there is also plenty of free street parking available. There are wide walkways and biking paths between the beaches and along the ocean here, and we often go down to the beach to just take a long, relaxing afternoon walk in the sunshine. It’s a great area to visit and enjoy anytime. One of our favorite beaches to visit in Auckland!

Mission Bay is truly a fantastic spot to visit in Auckland. The scenic beauty of the bay is simply mesmerizing, offering a perfect blend of natural charm and relaxation. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful stroll along the beach or a vibrant area to unwind, Mission Bay has it all. The park is particularly well-suited for families with children. It provides plenty of open space for kids to play and enjoy, making it an excellent destination for a family day out. The well-maintained surroundings, coupled with a variety of eateries nearby, add to its appeal. Overall, Mission Bay offers something for everyone, from scenic views to family-friendly amenities. It’s a must-visit spot in Auckland that leaves you refreshed and recharged.

Being close to city and some great food outlets, Mission Bay is by far one of the best hang out beaches in Auckland. There are some great cafes, restaurants, ice cream parlours, bars etc around as well. The place is perfect for workouts, runs, walks, beach hang outs and even dates😉. Well maintained and lovely to see. However, the toilets are being upgraded at the moment and I haven't seen any alternative arrangements close to the main car park. Even when they were functional, for some reason they were not open 24/7 unlike the other beaches like castor bay etc. This becomes very inconvenient at times. However, I think there is a 24/7 stone toilet at the rear end of the park which is at a distance from the main car park.

Mission Bay Beach is an exceptional spot in Auckland, offering a wonderful combination of natural beauty, great food options, and accessibility. Here’s why I love it:

Food Options:

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants along the beach, offering everything from casual bites to sit-down meals.

You can enjoy delicious fish and chips, fresh seafood, and a variety of international cuisines, all with a lovely seaside view.

Perfect for grabbing a coffee or enjoying a relaxed meal after a day at the beach.

Beach Events:

The beach regularly hosts local events and festivals, from outdoor movie nights to live music and family-friendly activities.

It’s a fantastic place for both planned events and spontaneous visits, with something happening throughout the year.

Beauty:

The beach itself is stunning, with clear waters and golden sands, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, or a peaceful walk along the coastline.

The views of Rangitoto Island and the surrounding area are picturesque, making it a perfect spot for photography or simply soaking in the scenery.

Accessibility:

Mission Bay is easily accessible by public transport, with frequent buses from the city center.

There’s also plenty of parking available for those who prefer to drive, making it convenient for families and visitors.

The promenade is well-maintained, making it suitable for strollers and people with limited mobility to enjoy.

All in all, Mission Bay Beach is a must-visit for anyone in Auckland, offering a mix of beauty, great food, fun events, and...

Mission Bay is a great Beach! It is stunning, with golden sand perfect for sunbathing and swimming. The area is vibrant, boasting a fantastic selection of cafes, restaurants, and ice cream shops that cater to all tastes. The promenade is ideal for a leisurely stroll or bike ride, and the views of Rangitoto Island are simply breathtaking. The nearby areas, like the charming village of Orakei, add to the appeal with their boutique shops and beautiful waterfront properties. Mission Bay and its surroundings offer a perfect blend of relaxation, recreation, and delicious food, making it an ideal destination for a day out or a longer stay. It's a truly wonderful place to experience the best of Auckland!

However, there are some drawbacks to consider. The public bathrooms could be cleaner, and the lack of changing rooms with locks is inconvenient. The showers also lack sufficient water pressure to thoroughly rinse off the sand. The perpetually wet ground can be a nuisance after changing into clean clothes. It's also worth noting that there are no lifeguards on duty, so visitors need to be extra vigilant, especially with children. Finally, be prepared for crowds and full car parks, especially on public holidays and weekends. Despite these minor issues, Mission Bay remains a nice...

Nestled along Auckland's coast, Mission Bay beckons with its scenic beauty and culinary treasures. Recently, my girlfriend, friends, and I embarked on a gelato-filled escapade that left us enamored with this coastal gem.

As we strolled along the sun-drenched promenade, the sight of Rangitoto Island added a majestic backdrop to our gathering. Our destination, Movenpick's, greeted us with a rainbow of flavors and the aroma of freshly baked waffle cones.

Amidst laughter and good company, we indulged in creamy delights, each spoonful a burst of flavor transporting us to blissful euphoria. From classic vanilla to exotic passionfruit sorbet, there was a flavor for every palate.

The impeccable service of the staff added an extra layer of charm to our experience, ensuring we felt valued amidst the bustling crowds.

In conclusion, our rendezvous at Mission Bay was a harmonious blend of flavors and camaraderie, leaving us craving for more. Whether you're a local seeking a serene escape or a visitor eager to sample Auckland's delights, Mission Bay offers an unforgettable experience that tantalizes the senses and...
