Went to bald eagle diner tonight for dinner. Food was fine, but nothing special, like mentioned in other reviews. Typical fried food and burgers you'd expect to see at a retro themed diner, I'd rate the burger better then McDonald's, but not as good as the lines of burger fuel.
But the service was what really let them down. The wait staff are clearly either new or very poorly trained. I don't expect 5 star service from a place like this, but things like bringing water to the table, checking to see if you want another drink if a glass is empty half way through the meal. We tried to make eye contact with the wait staff to request water and another drink, but they were either intentionally avoiding us or completely oblivious.
But the worst part was when we went to pay and asked about having our parking refunded as per the sign in the carpark. There were no instructions on the ticket, like the sign claimed, so I took a photo of our ticket before heading into the restaurant.
The girl behind the counter said we needed to have a different ticket, that should have printed out after the pay and display ticket. We explained only one ticket printed, and we'd didn't a good 20 or 30 seconds at the machine looking at the ticket for these mysterious instructions before taking the photo of it, so would have noticed if a second ticket printed but she said her boss would be "angry with her" if she didn't have the ticket. She didn't offer to get her boss, or check why the ticket didn't print for us, or explain why the sign makes no mention of needing this second ticket to get the refund it prominently advertises, she just stood there blankly.
Given the parking was $2 I didn't see the point in pushing the issue or asking to see the manager, but I won't be back to bald eagle diner, there are plenty of places in Mission Bay where they serve much better food, and the staff actually...
Read moreCame here today with the wife to give this place a try. We got in first thing when they opened and it was also nice to know that there wasn't any surcharge even operating on a national public holiday. We ordered the following: Chocolate Thickshake Deluxe Cheese Burger Southern Fried Chicken Burger Nacho Cheese fries Waffles w/ ice cream
Service: 5/5 Excellent Staff were really friendly and the lady who took our order looked after us very well with a friendly smile, and meal checks as well.
Food: 2/5 Tastes OK but plenty of room for improvement Burgers: the buns were quite dry and on the sweet side, I thought it was more of a brioche-like bun, which isn't my kind of thing. They rip apart easily when you're trying to work into the burger so you're left with a messy experience like other reviewers have said. Would be nice if they could at least provide a larger paper liner so you can use that to eat the burger without making a mess.
Nacho cheese fries: I think the fries would have been better off with the cheese sauce on the side in a container rather than smothering the whole basket with them. The sauce itself wasn't bad but you do get a bit tired of it when almost every fry is covered in the sauce.
Thickshake: chocolate flavour was lacking, and it looked a bit sad being served in a plain paper cup with a straw. Was a bit of a let down since a lot of the presentation of the food looked pretty good from the photos.
Waffles: presentation was nice, although the whipped cream was served out a bit liquid-like. The ice cream and waffles went well together so it was a nice dessert dish to enjoy. (note to staff - try to serve this dish with a fork, knife and spoon... not with a soup spoon and table spoon only).
Overall the dining experience was alright, if improvements can be made on the food and the experience, I think this place can do...

Me and two of my friends came in to celebrate my friend going to America in a few days. Upon arrival we were greeted by who we assume to be the manager who was so friendly and joined in on our banter. We assume it was busy before we came in around 7, so the table was a bit dirty but he swiftly came and cleaned the table.
We order a Blue lagoon cocktail to share and some chicken tenders to share to start. While checking our ID's he notice that one of my friends only just turned 18 and offered her a birthday Sundae. We thought this would be so funny so dispite her declines we wanted to make sure it happened. The cocktail was delicious! Not to strong, not to weak! Managed to have one glass myself and my two friends had 3 glasses each. The chicken tenders were juicy and came out piping hot, they were well seasoned too! They also gave us small plates to divide up the chicken which was very thoughtful.
For dinner I had the chicken waffles, one friend had the Philly cheese steak, and the other had the pull pork burger. So I'm gonna put little quotes my friends stated while eating:
Philly cheese steak: "I could get fat from eating too much of this"
Pulled pork burger: Didn't speak but had the sauce all over her face (staff brought her more napkins)
Chicken waffles: "I feel like Joey tribiani"
I also got the root beer float with dinner as i am driving and didn't drink anymore of the cocktail and it was splendid.
After this we thought about getting dessert but we were simply too full but the staff still brought out the birthday sundae and everyone in store joined in to sing. We ended up sharing the Sunday which was so good!
I would 100% recommend coming here! We...
