I was here three days in a row a few weeks ago. The ambience and the interior was great. I had some food and their curly fries the first day and visited them the next two to have curly fries again! They were delicious. Their stuffed peppers are also good.
I am rating them 2, but should actually rate them 1 for the customer service provided to us the second day. She was a big sized Polish lady from what I remember, who wanted us to buy more and more. We were one of the only two tables in the restaurant that was occupied that evening. And the restaurant had enough wait staff and kitchen staff. She didn’t seem happy when we bought just stuffed peppers, curly fries, a glass of sangria and pomegranate tea. She kept asking if we were sure that was enough for us. We felt very uncomfortable as we were only two of us and she was being pushy and even very rude at some point.
We had a couple occupy a table next to us, she was at her best as they pretty much bought everything that she wanted them to buy from wine to food!
To top it up, I had not even finished my tea when she placed the bill on table. That’s so rude and such a No No culture at Mission Bay Restaurants. When I asked her this at the til, she had the audacity to tell me that I could complain this to whom ever I wanted! I mean, I had never heard this at any restaurant here in NZ in the last 4 years!
I visited the restaurant again the third time, to see if it was just one of those bad days or if it was really something else. I must say, the grin that she gave me, never allowed me to return to this restaurant again.
Hey you! Please understand and realise that customer service in the hospitality industry is beyond any of your feelings or your attitude problem! You are probably in the wrong industry and should be looking for another job! A customer can walk into your restaurant just to have a cup of tea and that should not be your problem!
I love the food here, but would never recommend this place to anyone purely for the customer service experience provided to me and would never visit this...
Read moreI visited with some friends last Sunday for dinner & we were very disappointed with the entire evening. It was a cold night and we were placed in the corner, whereby there was a draught from the main entrance. We asked one of the staff if we could be moved or else could they provide us with blankets - to which the response was - the blankets we have are dirty you would not want them! Eventually half of the main door was closed. The meal was most disappointing also - especially what is referenced to be grilled haloumi - which was presented in a bowl - 4 small triangles, and was not pan fried at all, hardly warm in fact, and looked & tasted nothing like haloumi ( tasted more like paneer, looked rather unattractive and tasteless! ). We queried this - and the wait staff ( who did her best to rectify the situation ) asked another member of staff and we were advised we could select something else / not be charged for it, and we chose the latter option. At $16 per plate for the 3 plates ordered it was definitely not the experience we had expected. Something seems to be amiss - perhaps new ownership, not sure, but it was certainly an overall disappointing experience to say the least. We were given a plate of curly fries at the end, but this far from made up the cost of what we spent and the overall night we had. All in favour of supporting local business, but would not rush back.Little effort was really made to help us feel comfortable, nor that our...
Read moreIt’s not a Turkish restaurant! Don’t expect anything Turkish in this place.
Atmosphere is nice and staff are friendly but not trained. Place is located at Mission Bay which is a really popular beach in Auckland.
Menu is very simple and barley anything Turkish in it. Not enough information provided and description are not matching with what you will receive.
I ordered baklava and Turkish coffee. In the menu it says: Traditional baklava, pistachio ice cream, textures.
I was really surprised when I received a plate full of chocolate filled baklava with vanilla ice cream on top presented with cotton candies which claimed as “traditional baklava and pistachio ice cream”. Such a shame!
Please respect your clients and bare in mind that what’s written in your menu is a legal contract between you and your client. I was hoping to eat some traditional baklava not some fusion nonsense with a cup of uncooked so called Turkish coffee.
And Price for this nonsense mixture? $20 for the plate of baklava and a coffee. Of course price not mentioned in the menu otherwise I wouldn’t have fallen in to this trap. Expensive piece of experience for me! $80 for four person evening desert. Next time I will make sure a place is REALLY Turkish before I take my friends there for a...
