Hubby & I came for brunch here for the first time last Sunday (20 Sept). He had Big Breakfast and I had 3 egg Omelette with ham, toast and toast. We enjoyed it so much that we decided we'd bring my elderly mother to brunch this Sunday.

Oh my - what a difference a week can make!!!!

Hubby ordered the omelette I had last week and when it arrived he wondered if there was any similarity - it was smaller, chewier (yes a chewy omelette!) and far less appealing. Mum had 2 poached eggs on toasted ciabatta. She said 'the toast is nice dear' to me. Poached eggs should be runny, not capable of bouncing on the floor and walking out the door by themselves. I got the Waffle with bacon, banana, berry, mascarpone and maple syrup. Half a piece of bacon, 6 small slices of banana, a tsp of berry juice and 1 tsp of some form of berry. The single waffle was so hard it couldn't be cut with a knife!

I went up to complain to management and spoke with a tall female possibly from Eastern Europe/German background(?), with interesting English and very poor customer skills. She advised me "that is a good size serving of waffle and how it is made here". As to the other meals I got the 'European Shrug'. Got sick of that in Europe so I'm not putting up with it in NZ!

Don't eat here people. You will be ripped off, treated like scum and go hungry. Management are obviously not interested in getting...

Booked a Mothers Day High Tea and under whelming isn't enough to express how disappointing the experience was. $28.90 for per person (does not include drinks) booked for 4 people (2 adults 2 kids) plus a 2year old.

Upon arrival we had told a server that we had a booking and they just pointed to our seating and advised they will inform the chef. No one explained how the high tea will work or what's included so we had to wave someone down to order drinks.

We were not given the opportunity to let the chef know we had a nut allergy as the underwhelming platter was placed in front of us, when then requested the server check if any nuts were present. The platter did not justify the $115.60 we were charged for. We also ordered a bowl of fries and 5 drinks to which the bill came to a total of $160.40.

They should actually call it a chefs choice platter as an option on their menu rather than a high tea. There was nothing elevated in the platter and the service was basic.

Felt like we were scammed paying $160.40 and my family of 5 still left hungry and dissatisfied. Would...

I ordered a plate i waited so long and it came with food missing on the plate, bacon was burned, avocado was old. I asked to come and have a look but the lady didn't bother so I had to go and ask and she was very rude until I decided to ask for my money back. I left the cafe frustrated and hungry. 9 wasted my time. I will never come back and I do no recommend this place. AND TO THE PERSON WHO REPLIED TO ME SAYING WAS DEFINITELY NOT THIS CAFE : I AM SURE 100 PER CENT THAT WAS THE CAFE GREENFINGERS AS CUSTOMERS KNOW WHICH CAFE THEY GO TO AND WHEN THEY ARE NOT HAPPY. THE FOOD WAS OLD AND BURNED AND THERE WERE NO MUSHROOMS. THE LADY WHO SERVED THE FOOD WAS RUDE AND THE REFUND WAS GIVEN TO ME WITH CASH. AFTER READING THE REPLY OF THE OWNER ABOUT MY REVIEW I CALLED THE CAFE AND THE OWNER SAID SHE DOESNT HAVE AN IDEA OF THE REVIEWS AND SHE YELLED AT ME OVER THE PHONE SHE DOESNT READ THEM. I THINK ONE STUFF MEMBER REPLIED TO MY REVIEW SAYING I GOT THE WRONG CAFE AND THAT DOESNT MAKE A GOOD IMPRESSION...

This cafe has the best environment and they now have a new high tea set for $28.9 only! You get 3 savory and 4 sweet items! It is located inside Palmers and it is pet friendly! The price for the mains were pretty standard around $25-28 - such as their Thai chicken salad or salmon bowl. Their pastries were baked daily and the food were okay.

Hidden inside Palmers, a little cute cafe. The High tea’s price is worth it for the $29 price tag. However, since it is called high tea but tea wasn’t included, that was a bit disappointing to me. But if they increase the price to $35 and include teas I would go every week and rate it higher. Otherwise, the food and pastries are yummy.
