Orakei Local Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Ōrākei

My family and I had lunch on Sunday. It was very quiet. In hindsight this did not bode well. I did a quick check on the other google reviews and thought it was worth giving a try. Our experience did not match the other reviews on Google!. Maybe the chef changed.?? We ordered a beef burger, nachos, and the loaded fries. The service was friendly and helpful but the food really let then down. It was so disappointing. The fries were pale, limp and tasteless, the aoili had an unpleasantly strong garlic flavour, the guacamole had been piped over presumably out of a tube. Both dishes were missing the salsa stated on the menu. The ketchup for the fries tasted very weird, like not at all like regular ketchup. Both dishes came in small very plain bowls. We didn't finish the fries (this is unheard of ). The burger was ok. I'm so surprised that such simple dishes could be so bad. It's not rocket...

Good place for a beer but don’t order the food. Was hoping this place was going to be good. The location is really nice and the workers were friendly but food was a big let down.

I ordered a beef burger. It had two of the thin Tonnys Pattie’s you see in those multi packs that come in a 42 pack for $26. The cheese was processed. The salad and bun were ok. The chips were frozen Mr chips this all came up to $25. Could of at least used angel bay patties.

The jalapeños poppers, pork belly bites and karage chicken tasted like it was cooked from frozen.

The kids cheese pasta was more like a cheese soup with short fettuccini noodles

In summary location is good but th food is over priced for the quality. If you looking for dinner the eatery at east ridge mall is amazing. Just avoid...

Hosted my daughters 21st at Orakei Local Bat & Kitchen. Great space! We had about 60 guests, but could move furniture to accommodate more or less guests and feel cosy. The team gave great advice and provided outstanding service. Food came out quickly and was great for the crowd. Drinks flowed. They used their microphone for speeches, sound system, photo screen. Great outside area to take a break from the dance floor. Plenty of excellent parking and access for the older guests. Would absolutely recommend for this sort...
